How long does Fantillusion last?

Hello,
After reading all the great reviews on this lovely forum, I want to book Inventions after Fantillusion for the last evening meal of our December trip. If the parade time stays weekdays at 19.00, when do you think is the earliest time I can realistically book our meal for? What time does the parade finish?

Parades generally take about 20 minutes. I'd say the earliest you should book for is 7:30pm

That is not true Jack. It is true that it takes 20 minutes for the parade to pass you by but usually Fantillusion starts in Fantasyland and it needs 45 minutes until the last wagon has disappeared on Mainstreet (the end of the parade). And as the park closes right after Fantillusion don't forget that the whole crowd will leave the park at once.
So I would not book my table at Invention before 8pm.

We once had a similar experience. We had a reservation for Walt's at 4:30 and we watched the OUADP at Fantasyland. But after the parade had passed us by we could not just walk via Mainstrett to Walt's as the parade was still on. And so we walked through Fantasyland and Adventureland to get to "the other side" of the Mainstreet were Walt's is. And we arrived at Walt's at 4:40. So it is more then unrealistic that you will get to Inventions at 7:30.

What Marcus says is correct.

I personally would stand the Adventureland side of the castle so that once the parade has passed me by (roughly 20 minutes after it has started) I could nip up the arcade on that side and exit the park before the parade had passed the whole of Main Street, hopefully avoiding the rush.

I'd still book for no earlier than 7.30

Yes, make sure you're the side Cap'n Jack says (Liberty Arcade) as if you're the other side, even if you can get into the Discovery Arcade, you won't be able to get out until the parade has completely finished.

Why not book your meal for 8pm but get to the restaurant as soon as you can. You may find they will be able to seat you early, if not you can have a drink in the Fantasia bar whilst you're waiting.
