How long do you wait to see the dr?

I brought DS5 in this morning for his pre op visit. He appointment was at 10am. I got there 5 mins early signed in and waited. I waited 45 mins, they took us back and took his vitals. We then went into the room and waited another 35mins for the dr to come in. He checked him out and filled out the pre op form (all of which took 5 mins) we then left.

This is not the first time we have waited long to get in for our visit. One time they let us sit in the waiting room for 1.5hrs! I went to the desk to make sure everything was ok and was told it was. 15mins later, they call me up to say that they are having a problem with my ins co and for me to call them?!?!?! OK, couldn't they have brought this to my attention a little sooner? :sad2:

I am going to look for a new pediatrician, but am wondering what is an average wait time in the dr office.

thanks for listening.....

I don't usually see the actual doctor until 45-60 minutes after my appointment time. She's a good doctor, so I put up with it, but it frosts my cookies. If I ever came across another one who seemed promising I would be gone in a flash!

My regular doctors appts (as well as my daughters) we are in usually within 5 minutes of the appt time.

I have only had surgery once---that appt schedule was a little off--but nothing too bad.

1.5 hours is TOO long to wait and it sounds like the pediatrician needs a better urgent care policy.

Our office (family practice)--they have it down to an art with one doc being the urgent care doc of the day---and then other docs having proper spacing for well child, follow up care, or regular care that is not urgent.

There's a little wiggling in once we get back to the office in how long it takes us to be seen--but all appts are over by the half hour.

I guess I wouldn't mind as much if we got back to the room in a timely manner and then had to wait in there for a while. But, its hard to corral kids in the large waiting room.....

If waiting for 1.5 hours is the norm for that Dr. I would be looking for another. That's just not acceptable. Your time should be just as valuable as theirs. I understand things can get a little behind but over an hour :sad2: .

ds5 is usually seen 10-15 min. of his appt. time. It drives me crazy when they're behind like that. I've waited several times for dr. appt. times. then they check your blood pressure, and when they tell you your blood pressure is high...I tell them it's b/c I've been waiting for x amount of time to be seen! once you're reaching an hour...that to me is just ridiculous! :furious: most of us have to take time off work to go to the dr. I'd rather be making $ than sitting in a dr. office!!

Usually about 20 minutes. I would wonder if today was longer because of the Holiday someone may be off and then people always seem to get sick or hurt over holiday weekends and Monday is catch up. I try not to have an appointment after or near a Holiday.
