How long did your seller take? Closing docs....

And we have closed!!!!!! Whoo Hoooo!! Just got the email that Disney has been notified of our ownership.

So hopefully by the end of NEXT week I will be set up and can start checking availability to try & get some ressies in. :)

congrats!!!:dance3:

My experience has been that sellers nearly always take longer than buyers to get their closing documents in. Has always surprised me since you would think they want their money as fast as possible.

That is surprising. You really would think that the people selling would want their money ASAP... Well, so far for us, the sellers sent their signed contract back a day after we did. Hopefully, once we get passed ROFR (note the positive thinking!), they will be quick with returning their closing documents!

Thanks everyone! I'm so excited it is silly. :rotfl:
I can't wait until my accounts are all set up and I can start planning for real. Of course then it may be more like:badpc:
:lmao:

Congratulations, not much more time befor you can strt using your points.

Having recently completed a sale, I would like to add that as a seller we don't receive the buyer's funds until after the title is recorded in the county offices so we end up waiting even longer than the buyer for our share of the transaction.

We no longer have access to the DVC magic of those points AND we don't have any money.:sad1:

Fortunately, they weren't my only points and I have a January trip to look forward to but I still miss those points.

The average time for resale from start to finish is 60 days. Disney delays resales for at least 40 of those days with ROFR and the points transfer. IMO it's just another way of deterring resale buyers.

Notified of passing ROFR on 7/20/12, closing occurred 7/26/2012.

When purchasing I'm eager and get my stuff in ASAP:) When time comes to sell I'm not so sure I will be as eager....No one wants to let go of their little piece of the Kingdom:)

Thanks!! One week after Disney was notified of the ownership change, I called for my info and everything was set up. I was able to get a login and made my first reservation that day (for a March trip.). I also had 60 pts that were expiring 01/31/13 -- looks like my brother will be able to use them this fall for a trip. :). Only an owner a very short while and I am already very anti-point-wastage. Lol

So happy for you!! I'm going to call and find out about mine tomorrow. I've been waiting for membership through mail. Disney was notified beginning of last week for mine....so hopefully I can start using tomorrow:). I'm sure I'll eventually waste points on my brother too:).

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a waste. :) Better he use them than they expire unused, KWIM. Between school and the cost of airfare for a family of 5, we wouldn't be able to use them. But better if I could have used them. ;)

It's great that you are able to share your points. :)

Yeah I'd call 69 days insane too. o
If a wait hits 30 days it is time to call it quits I think.

My sellers had the contract back in just as quick as we did, I was hoping they'd be on the ball with the closing docs too. Hope they aren't having second thoughts now. :-/

Actually, we just pulled a contract because the sale wasn't completed in a timely manner. We had overnighted the final payment and documents before the July 4th holiday and when the Seller's paperwork still hadn't arrived in Hilton Head by August 10th, we walked away. I hated to do it - it was a sweet contract, but between issues with the title company and the delay, we just felt much better walking away. The peace of mind is worth the delay in getting more points!!

Hard to walk away from something that you become so invested in. Sometimes it just has to be done. Sorry you had to go through this. Hopefully your next experience will be better.
