I am about to start saving for our VR. I think it will probably end up at Disney, not 100% sure. Just wondering how long everyone saved for? I will most likely start saving in October after we return from our next trip.

DH and I saved aggressively for almost 15 months, and that was on top of family money that helped us as well! I guess it all depends on what you think your budget will be/what you want it to be.

We will have been saving for 15 months by the time our wedding comes around. We are at 6 months right now and have paid deposits out of our "savings."

I started saving this May for our June 2011 wedding. I would start saving asap and as much as possible.

We started saving after our last trip in May 09, for our March 11 wedding.

i started saving the day I got engaged! that was in sept 09 and we are getting married in sept 2011.

I would start sooner rather than later because if you get to your target early you can relax before the big day.

I started saving the day Dbf told me he wanted me to pick out my e-ring, and that was in December of '08. We aren't planning on getting married until January of '13, but we knew (being poor college students and eventually jumping into the job market) that saving early was the best choice. Granted, we don't have a ton right now with him just starting his new job and paying student loans, but we have enough to cover all the attire and accessories for ourselves.

Pick your budget first, and add a little on top for tax and service fees. Then start saving early, even if it's just $20 a week at first. It will add up. =)

It will be a years worth of saving when we get married, although our parents have helped us x

I personnally would try to work it the other way. Using the boards, the BEO's and floral estimates people have posted on here and also Passporter's Guide to Disney Weddings and Honeymoons I'd work up a a dream sheet and estimate of what I think my wedding would cost (location, reception, floral etc, don't forget hotel costs, travel, outfits, hair and make up, invitations etc). Then add in a little more on top of that amount as a cusion. From that I would look at my monthly household income and what I could realistically save and scrimp on. From that build a budget plan to get to my estimate to include any extra source of funds. That would then lead to a timeline and/or I would know what I could and could not do.

We have been saving for a little over a year. I would suggest getting the Disney Visa card to help pay for park tickets or your room. We have the Disney Visa and it paid for half of our Disney cruise for the honeymoon. If your going to be spending the money, you might as well get some return. :wizard:

Our VR will be in early 2013. As soon as we get back from our October trip I am starting to save. Ya'll have convinced me! I got the Disney Visa a few months back when I started planning our trip, I have been using it to pay for our upcoming trip. I am already earning money towards this trip, and the trip I am taking for the Princess 1/2. Such a great idea! As soon as I get comfortable with the bank, I might start having my entire paycheck moved to this account so that I can earn lots of money towards the VR!

Thanks ladies for the inspiration.
