How long did you keep your old college notes?

On this Labor Day I'm laboring in my closet and came across a box containing notes from various college classes taken 2-3 years ago. Speech, Psych, Poli Sci, old math classes... I forgot about them until I found them and now I don't know if I really need them..

How long did you keep your notes? Did you keep them all or just ones for your major?

I tossed mine after I graduated. I only kept a folder with some papers that I wrote that I didn't want to throw away. Other than that, everything went.

I kept a few notebooks from classes that either piqued my interest or prompted me to produce work I was proud of. Everything else got tossed.

I tossed mine after graduation. Mu best friend still has some notes and textbooks, and we finished college 25 years ago.

I didn't keep any undergrad stuff, didn't need it (though I kept a handful of books that were useful for graduate work).

My graduate work is all being kept as it's directly related to my career field. Almost all of it is on my computer and backed up - though some are printed out and in folders. I don't keep anything that was not useful.

I'm sure that my students will keep notes from my classes forever! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think I kept them about 5 years, but I was a nurse, so some of them had good references for me.

Usually with medical stuff though, after 5 years or so, new info comes out which makes the old info obsolete.

Out they go then. The grades have long since been posted. I have books for my major, don't plan on getting rid of those. I'm on the 20 year plan ;)

My mom has my work from my elementary school days still. Thats fun to look at.

About 5 minutes. I threw them away on the way out after taking the final. This is assuming I took any notes anyways.

im in college now..but some classes i throw out the notes right after the final (these are the gen-eds that i dont need for my major)..all the ones for my major,,i keep for now

I finished school in 1986....but I was cleaning out an old box in the basement this spring and found a large pile of papers I had written between 1982 and 86! Out they went~! And they weren't even great papers, like A+ or anything! Pathetic (And sadly, I have moved 6 times since then.... they managed to follow me!)...............P

I threw a lot of them away when I graduated. I was moving into a smaller space and didn't want to waste space on things I didn't need. I did keep my notes from a few classes that I thought I would come back to later, and I'm glad I did. I still have the notes from a class in diagraming sentences (I was an English major), and I'm going to use them (along with other reference books) to write a text book for homeschoolers some day.

We still have some of ours, and we graduated from undergraduate at the end of the 70's and grad school early 80's. I still have note from medical school, and I graduated in 1988. We still have the notes from a physical chemistry lab course that we taught in 1981-1983, when I was the head TA.

I don't plan on getting rid of mine. I still have some papers I wrote in HS.

I tossed just about everything. I took a lot of writing classes and kept much of that work.
