How long did you date before marriage?

WOW, so many HS sweethearts! And so many of you waited because you were so young. seems like 6 months to 3 years is the average so far ....

Five years, 3 months and 23 days! Exactly, to the hour! No high school sweethearts, here, though.... we worked together one summer and were both in college. We waited until at least one of us had a good job!~ I was 29 and he was 28 when we married. Been married 13 years, 3 months and 12 days, 8 hours and 8 minutes.! I know, I really have to get a life!

I bet if this poll had been taken 30 years ago, there would have been a whole lot less of the "Over 3 years" votes. Everybody now seems to want to wait until they have all their ducks in a row before taking the plunge!.... Finish school, maybe do some travel, pay off college debt, be in a career as opposed to a job.......

Thank goodness for this! Less chance of divorce. There were no quick weddings in either of our extended families, and not one divorce!

DH and I met in January of 2004. I moved from MA to NC on March 3. I still can't believe that my Mother didn't lock me in a room. We got married in August of 2006.....so a year and a half.

Agreed! I voted and was then reading responses, and realized that it was REALLY old!

DH and I met in spring of 2005 at work, started dating August of 2005, split up for like a month and a half, and then began dating again in early 2006. Vacationed in WDW in August 06 and there was no going back then haha!! Engaged in DL in August 07 and married in August 08.

Just a fun question. I was 6 months dating. First date Valentine's day ...

I'll bite on an old thread... We dated in-person for a month. Then we wound up living in separate time zones from May through November, when we got engaged over Thanksgiving. Married the following May.

We'll be married 20 years this month!

As for me, we dated 1 year, then engaged for 2 more while we finished college. Married 32 years this Sept.

Dh and i dated for about 4-5 months b4 getting engaged and got married 9 months after that. We met on the internet and dated that way and in person from PA to VA. In Oct. it'll 7yrs. married
