How long did it take...

Once I got one the next day. I've never not got a 1 night waitlist. One time about 2 months out I decided to add a night at VGC at the end of a Paradise Pier stay. I planned to get an airport hotel the night before my Saturday morning flight. I saw DCA was open late that night, I decided to waitlist the night at VGC. Came through within a week or so. So then I decided to waitlist Thursday night, came through in a week or two. Then I waitlisted Wednesday night, came through about 28 days out from check-in. I was out of points, couldn't try for more. Member Services combined the 3 nights into one reservation. The harder part was shortening my PP reservation, I had Sunday to Thursday nights. They refused to drop Wednesday and Thursday nights since they were no longer available (they treat the modification like a new reservation). It was room only and I only paid 1 night. They said ask at check-in. I did and they dropped Wednesday and Thursday nights.
I'm a little nervous cuz I did mine 5 months out and not 7 cuz I didn't have the points then but at least i have a shot. I would seriously be happy if just one of those 3 nights came thru so at least we can have a consecutive 2 night stay and check out the restaurants and pool.

My first ever waitlist for beach club 1 night came thru!!! Of course it wasn't consecutive and there's a gap but I only need two more nights to go and I'm happy as a clam to have two nights in September to enjoy that river! I will move twice if I have to lol bcv here i come!!!

I find waitlists come through at most resorts up to five months out. Once you are in the five month period, I find waitlists less likely to come through. CA resorts never come through for me.

I am still 5 months out but less than a week. I'm probably going to have some hodgepodge of 1 night old key west, 1 night bcv, 1 night old key west and back to bcv. I'm going to try to change the old key west to bwv if they come up so they can be closer. I will try to live out of the suitcase as much I can 🤣🤣

I am brand new to DVC...I have done three waitlists for single days, 2 of the 3 have come through so far....one for Boardwalk and one for Beach Club, both in Sept. My account go activated in January. The Beach club hit just last Friday and it was probably active for 6-8 weeks. In reality there will be huge variance. The amount of inventory for your selected room type is a huge driver. So if you go for an AKL value vs a Savannah view it will alter things.....there are a lot more Savannah rooms than value rooms and you need people to cancel. So it is a crap shoot but you can improve your chances by selecting rooms with more inventory. I use the link below for that.

Edit: Removed link because it is filtered here.

The bcv that went thru for me was on waitlist for about a week because I kept changing my waitlists 🤣🤣 got lucky with that one, hope the luck continues.

I got an email saying that my reservation was cancelled before I saw it that freaked me out but it's because it replaced another reservation 🤣🤣

I noticed that they dont send an email if it fills and you are not replacing an existing reservation.....they should fix that.

Just wondering if anyone can make an educated guess based on experience…

We are booked at poly (home resort) for 11/23-28 (5 nights), but my husband and kids really wants WL Boulder Creek, what are the chances that the waitlist for 5 nights will come through? I love poly but wanted to try WL as I’ve heard the decorations for the holidays are beautiful!

Maybe not as bad as early December would be but still, I’d say the chances are going to be very slim. More of a run around, but you could always rent your poly nights and use those funds to pay for a cash booking at WL. I feel like a hotel side/cash booking is a much surer bet especially this far out.

Thanks so much, I love that idea!
