How long did it take you to get your refund with SW

Donmil723: Thanks for the reply and the contact info.

Mrs.Mud: The fare I booked on-line was the "internet one-way", although I booked a return flight. So does this mean that I wouldn't get a credit if the price dropped? Or just not a cash credit, but a SWA credit (which will be of no use to us)?

Thanks!!

I don't think it matters. Last year I booked over the phone and they gave me the internet special and the refund.

This year I booked originally through DING then the internet special came up. I did it all over the internet then just called for the refund.

Thanks Hockeychic. Did you book the new one over the internet and then called to cancel the other one and to get your cash refund, or do you just call them and do it all over the phone? I don't want to end up with a reservation that I can't get a refund for.

I did the cancellation and rebook over the internet. I had 2 one way trips and changed it to a return.

I can't say for sure you will get a refund but it has worked for me.

Hey donmil! Can't say why in your situation switching airports they didn't allow it. But, in my situation, when I switched from STL to MCI, I didn't actually get a discount for that change. I was actually paying a little bit more than my Ding deal out of STL, but MCI had finally come down to STL's original deal (so I used the STL Ding ticket funds and the credit I had from the Ding deal to book MCI). It was only later when MCI had a Ding and then an internet fare that I got refunds. Maybe I booked/rebooked sooo much that the agents couldn't track me. ha ha. I don't know. But, I did book all mine online. Only thing I did over the phone was ask for a refund.

Also, I see you are from California, Missouri. My sister used to teach school there (she now lives in Nixa). Small World.

p.s. Congrats on your refund Hockeychic!

It's a small world, isn't it, vossjemi? I'm curious about who is your sister. My youngest graduated 2 years ago and both DH and I are graduates of CHS. If you don't mind, send me a PM with her name. I wouldn't be surprised if one of my kids had her as a teacher.

I had made several changes to my flights too. Don't remember the exact way it went but I first booked it with a DING from MCI-TPA. Anyway, it didn't really matter to me then as I knew we were going in October. But since I used those ticketless travel funds for this trip, I knew I wasn't going to go anywhere again before they expired so I was happy to get the credit this time although it hasn't shown up yet on my credit card.

They cannot give you the "Internet One Way" on the phone, it is only bookable on the internet. So if the new, lower price is an Int. 1 Way, they can't do anything over the phone (this is what the rep. told me when I called). You would have to make the change online, and therefore would only be able to get a SW credit. Now if the new, lower price is a "Promotional Fare" or something else, they can do that by phone. Does that make sense?

Sent you a PM. By the way, did you see the Ding deal last night from MCI to Orlando? $54 one way! Good from nov 1 through jan 9. Made me want to book another trip!

I also recently got a credit on my SW account but I was told that if I wanted to get a $ refund I couldn't do it until after my flight and that needed to call SW back and request it. ((My trip hasn't happened yet so don't know if what I was told is true). I also booked online.

No, I didn't see it. I haven't been looking since I got our air fare at such a good rate for October. Next trip won't be until May when we go on our second Disney cruise or maybe March if DD begs me to go with her on spring break. LOL!

I read your PM and replied. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.

Woo Hoo!!!! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cool1: :Pinkbounc I just got a ding rate for $40 Buffalo to Orlando. I called and cancelled over the phone and they gave me the confirmation number with my credit to apply to the ding rate. I went online and booked my new flight (same flight date and time) with the ding rate and used my confirmation number with my credit to apply to the purchase of this flight. Then I called the refund number that donmil723 posted and they refunded me $507.47 to my credit card!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

When I did call to cancel, the SWA rep told me that I could only get a credit for future flights, but when I called the refund number, they said no problem and said they would be applying a credit back to my credit card.

Thanks so much donmil723 for the contact info.

Congrats Buzzfan! Isn't that a great feeling? Knowing you have $500 to spend on something else!

I did the same thing Donna did...called the long distance # (free on my cell phone). I booked and changed my sept trip a total of 5 times:
1)STL to MCO
2)cancelled and rebooked due to Ding fare (got ticketless travel funds)
3)cancelled and rebooked MCI to MCO finally at same rate as original STL to MCO rate so used ticketless travel funds for rebooking
4)cancelled and rebooked due to Ding fare out of MCI (called and got $40 refund)
5)cancelled and rebooked due to Internet fare sale of $59 (called and got a whopping $400 refund!!!)

This all started early May, and my last booking was in July, so, I'm proof it works!

I wish I had read this post yesterday....I would have just called SWA instead of cancelling and rebooking flights for 23 people :earseek: My ticket purchases fell within the window of 24 hours, so I was able to cancel and get my card credited back. I used ticketless refunds for most of them, but at the end I didn't want get hung with flight credit I might not need, so I cancelled for a credit card credit and rebooked.

When I called to make sure that everything had cancelled and rebooked correctly, the Customer Service rep told me it would take about 10 days for the refund, which is what I've seen mentioned several times.
