How long did it take you and your partner to conceive?

With DD11 we had been married a bit over a year and decided we were at the point of if it happens it happens, we got pregnant around our 2nd Anniversay. Decided to try for #2 a couple of years later, couldn't do it on our own, did the clomid-nothing, did a year of IUIs, finally got pregnant, but it was deemed a chemical pregnancy and we lost it a few days later. After almost 7 years of trying we gave up, I bought a sports car...got pregnant on our own with DS4 (almost) at Thanksgiving. He was born 4 days before my 33rd birthday.

This afternoon I'm headed to the Dr. for a blood test...we had a + at home test and want to confirm. We weren't trying (then again we weren't not trying). A little nervous though as I will be 37 with this one (thinking of all the bad things). Funny thing is, I'd have the same due date as I did with DD 12 years ago. Keeping my fingers crossed. :cloud9:

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, too! What awesome news.:flower3::hug:

5 years with DS, 4 months with DD. Tried Clomid after 2 years it did not work for us. I had a rupjured ovary in Nov 96 & found out I was pregnant, lost the baby. One of those good news bad news things. Then got pregnant in Jan 97. We were getting ready to go to a clinic in Indy when we found out I was pregnant.

With my DD 13, we tried about 3 months after I went off the pill, then my DD8 was a "surprise" I was still on the pill, but taking an antibiotic for a nasty sinus infection. I guess my sinus infection wasn't that bad, lol. Then our DD3 was planned, I was taking the Depo shots, and it took about 7 months for my system to return and then after one cycle I got pregnant. When I had her via c-section (total of 3) I had my tubes tied, so I don't have to worry about that now. But now I am single, :woohoo:

My DS was a surprise...

My DD we decided to start trying on a Monday, and I got pregnant on that Wednesday... :confused3

poor DH only got to try twice... :lmao:

After that my Mom always told him to stop looking at me cause he would get me pregnant...

My friend tried for 2 years then went on clomid for 1 month and had her first DS then when he was 3 weeks old she got pregnant again with DS #2...

The very next time I ovulated in December, I got pregnant, and here I am fat and miserable, due the first week of September!

Oh! I feel for you!! It is HOT here.

OP - It took us 5 years. Really, though, only a year after we were seriously trying - we got "the book" and I also recommend it. My OB put me on Clomid for 6 months and all it did was give me hot flashes. If you do take it, please make sure you're monitored on it - it made things, let's just say, inhospitable, so there was no way I would be pregnant on it. Of course, I didn't know that until I finally went to see an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). From that first visit, it was 3 months before I was pregnant.

Best of luck!

Not to be discouraging.... 9 years to get a live baby.

Molar pregnancy one year in..... DS was born 9 years after we started trying and we lost twins last year.

I'm sorry that you're having trouble.

For me, I got pregnant on our honeymoon. Nine months later, our first DD was born. Our second DD was conceived within the first month of trying as well. Our third was within 2 months.

I was VERY regular and young at the time.

Well, I spent years and tons of money on fertility treatments...so the answer here would be 7. Our son was 5 when he officially belonged to us!! My other 2 we adopted and believe me...it was much cheaper and easier on the butt!

I think the more realistic answer you are looking for is....if it takes more than a year, see a doctor.

You may want to invest in clear plan easy monitor. It is about $160.00 and is an amazing thing. Many people I know have used it and had success (only if you are going for more than 9-10 months with no luck).

With DS, I was 28 when we started TTC and DH was 31. It took us 8 cycles to concieve him with a miscarriage on cycle 6. We were charting and taking it seriously for the last 6.

We are TTC #2 right now and just finishing up Cycle 9. BFN's so far this month as well. We charted and were very serious about it until cycle 6 when I did get pregnant but had another early miscarriage so we have backed off the charting and stuff for now. Just timing it right based on CM and next month I might do OPK's again but no temping.

With dd it took 3 months to conceive and had her when I was 36. DS I was using the patch, the patch started eating my skin, stopped using the patch, and 3 months later conceived ds. I was 40 when I had him. With Ds i had a tubal, no more kids for me. Also, somehow we ended up with Nov. 17 for the due date for each child.

I got pregnant the first month I tried for both of my pregnancies. I was 30 the first time and 34 the second.

My family seems to be very fertile though. My mom and grandma both got pregnant very easily as well.

Hope it happens for you soon!

I also read Taking Charge of Your Fertility before we started trying, and charted on the Fertility Friend website.

We started TTC at 27 and 28. Went off birth control in March, and decided to just see what happened for 3 months. I was actually sort of still trying to not get pregnant during those months since I didn't really want a winter baby - so, even though I was off birth control, we mostly avoided the most likely times to get pregnant. We figured if I got pregnant during those months, it was meant to happen!

Started charting and really timing in June. Got pregnant with an ectopic pregnancy that month. Took 1 month to recover from treatment for that, and then it took 3 months to get pregnant again, and I'm now almost 38 weeks!

Started TTC in December of 2001. Finally in February 2003 on my first cycle using clomid we conceived....so over a year. This time we started trying in September 2008 - got my BFP in February again with a due date of November 1st which is my DD's birthday. Found out at my first appt that I had had a missed miscarriage. So I'm on my first cycle that we could TTC since my D&C and DH is out of town....if ovulation will hold off until the weekend we might have a chance :rotfl: I'm currently using OPK's and temping using Fertility Friend just to be able to hopefully confirm that I am or am not ovulating so we can try clomid sooner rather than later if I'm not. I'm 35 now and don't want to be much older when we have #2 - and DD will already be 6 when we have #2 if we get lucky....I don't want much more space than that if I can help it. Good Luck! It can definitely be a difficult road to travel.

:lmao:This could be my post! Op- don't lose hope though. I had been on BCP since I was 18 due to endometriosis and worried that it would effect my fertility. Obviously, it didn't! I had to force DH to wait to get a vasectomy until our second child was a year old, just in case we changed our mind about wanting to try for a third. The day after DS turned one, DH called to schedule it! He said that he wasn't taking any chances.:rotfl2:

I'm sending lots of good thoughts your way!:goodvibes

We married in Dec 2001 and we gave up about a year ago. We have tried everything, except IVF and I have NEVER conceived, not even chemically. I don't ovulate even with assistance (injections). At this point, we are childless and moving on.

Good Luck

Suzanne

OP: took us 9 very LONG years, thru it all, infertility cycles and procedures, surgeries and multiple inseminations...we FINALLY got pregnant, a DS, now a teen. :lovestruc

I was able to get pregnant again several years later, one more time, but VERY tragically lost my little girl :sad1:
I could not even try again after that, just could not even think about trying.....
Good Luck to you and EVERYONE trying to have a family! It is truly a BLESSING!!

To Tonilea: My heart aches for you, I am so sorry to hear about your twins :grouphug:

With my daughter, who is now 8, it took my ex husband and I one cycle for me to get pregnant. It was also a "if it happens, it happens" situation. I was 22 when I had her.

With my son, who will be 9 months on Saturday, it took 2 years and 2 months. I did get pregnant about a year after we started trying, but it ended in miscarriage at 9 weeks. A few months after that I had surgery that revealed a lot of problems. Finally got pregnant after all of that.

I never had to even try. It just happened. I feel for anyone that is trying and having trouble. Pixie Dust to all of you.

We started trying May 2001, and my son was finally born June 2004. I had 3 miscarriages before he was conceived. So, it took 2 years and 5 months to get pregnant with a keeper..
