how long can fruit stay out of the fridge?

If I leave my house at 8am with a 3pm checkin time and bring fruit with me in a cooler will it be ok? I may be able to get in the room by noon but Im not counting on it.
Thinking of grapes, strawberries, cherries, apples
Maybe bring a few cucumbers and a bag of mixed salad

Or do I need to find a grocery store once I get there? Its a 4hr drive in the car

It should be fine -- as long as the cooler stays "cool"! I often leave fruit items in a bowl on the kitchen counter all day long for DH and kids to (hopefully) grab as a snack and there are no problems. As long as the fruit is intact (not peeled or split) and doesn't feel too mushy when you get there, it should be fine!

Of your list, the things I would worry about the most are the strawberries and the bag of salad.

Good for you for stocking up on those fruit and veggies!!
