How long before you want more points?

Just wondering-we signed less than two months ago, thought about it almost since VWL first opened, and we already want to get more points. And I thought we thought this out so well! So, I was wondering, how long after your purchase did it take everyone to decide they had to go back and get more points?

We added on less than 2 weeks after our initial purchase in 2000. We just added on again last Friday

Exactly one month after our first purchase! We purchased BCV on Feb 5 and called our guide last week to let him know we wanted to do an add on.

We add on to BCV 2 days after we closed on our resale at OKW. We are considering one more add on.... either to bump up our points at BCV or maybe buy a resale of BWV. Havent made up our minds yet. BUT then we are done. We will have reached our "dues" limit.

Since we first put our downpayment on our first purchase for BCV less than two weeks ago, we keep talking about when (not if) we will add on more points. We keep thinking we need to squeeze in more points before the price goes up. I think it's addictive!

I clicked on this thread thinking that we added on quickly, I guess we were slow.

We bought in '92 and had two year's worth of points for our first stay in '93. With so many points, we got a Grand Villa at OKW. We realized immidiately that we were going to need a grand villa every trip. we added 200 to our original 230 during that first trip.

We closed on our first 200 points at VWL in January 2001. By April we were calling our guide to add points before we had even done a DVC stay! VWL were not approved in NY then so we had to wait till July.

Pointitis is a sickness simular to one that boaters get. Back in our boat owning days, soon after getting a new larger boat, I would start wanting a longer boat. Boaters call this "footitis".

We made our first purchase while down in WDW in 2000. When we got home, we called and added on 100 points. A year later, we added another 100 points. I think we are done now because there is no way I think I could convince DH we need more!

We made our first DVC purchase on 2/3/02, purchasing BCV points; 2 weeks later, we added on. I have a feeling that we are not finished yet! I agree, it's addictive. inkbounc

We must be the exception rather that the rule.
We managed to wait 18 monthes before we bit the bullet for another 100 points. I guess a D/S in college and a new Grand Cherokee Ltd. were too much of a strain on our budget

Any way, if the cruise line adds on a third ship sailing to alaska we could ..........

We are all set to close on an OKW resale next week and I already want just a few more points. However, I think I will just have to be satisfied with the points we will have. It took a lot of convincing of dh for these points and I don't think I will be able to talk him into any more.

We bought a resale in July and are in the process of our second resale. And we still haven't even seen any of the DVC properties. This board is very persuasive.

Less than a month to add 35 points to our original 250 BWV points. We have now completed 4 add-ons and have 320 BWV points and 135 VWL points.
Would like to have more VWL points.

Granny has done a sell job on VWL.

We started with 230 (OKW) in 99, then added 70 more there 4 months later to give us 300 at OKW, then this past Jan bought 110 VB points Would like to do an OKW re-sale for for 50-100 pts, on the waiting list through DVC for the smaller amount. Only larger contracts(150-400) are available through re-sale market.

the first add-on was 2 weeks after our original contract. We had not even stayed in a DVC resort yet! But our low interest rate was good for 30 days after our presentation. We looked at our finances and at our prospective vacation habits. the interest rate was going to go up. and Disney made the whole darn process TOO EASY. so we added on.

Then a month later, DVC announced the price per point was going up! We made the mistake of taking our first trip to a DVC resort then (OKW) in a 2 bedroom. not a good idea to START in a 2 bedroom. we fell in love with it. As our kids got older wouldn't we always need a 2 bedroom? We looked at our finances then we looked at our now revised prospective vacation habits. The price per point was going to go up. and Disney made the whole darn process TOO EASY. so we added on.

Then in December, we had a 2 bedroom and took extended family along. It was a blast! we thought "what if we want to go twice a year---once with extended family and once alone or with different family? And, hey! what's this about VWL selling out any day? We looked at our finances then we looked at our now re-revised vacation habits. The lodge was going to sell out soon. and Disney made the whole darn process TOO EASY. so we added on.

I think we need a 12 step program here!

It's coming up on one year--Time for our fourth add-on....

We started out with 270 points but within 90 days we had added on twice bringing our total to 370. Less than six months later we wanted to take our friends on a golf trip to DVC which led to a 130 point add-on ( 500 points now ).

Well we just can't resist the deal on BCV so it looks like a 150 point add-on is going to happen at the one year mark.

We originally purchased in 1992 (OKW), added on in 1996 (BWV), added on in 1998 (another BWV), added on in 2000 (OKW), and will be adding on later this month (BCV). Any bets on 2004?

Oh no! I thought I was cured with the BCV deal 6 weeks after initial VWL purchase. But this seems to be a chronic condition. Do any of you have "enough" points?

I can honestly say after we find a sweet 170-200 point contract for BWV we will be cured! We will have our perfect package.
