How long do you normally spend for dinner at Ohana? There will be 3 kids - 4,4,6- we want them to have fun with the entertainment.
Thanks

The meal itself typically lasts about an hour, but 'Ohana is notorious for having long waits for a table, even with a reservation. 'Ohana is one of the most popular restaurants on property, so there is often a logjam at the podium and in the lounge area. I would reserve 30 minutes in your itinerary to wait to be seated.

Thanks for your quick reply. I am going to plan on 1 1/2 hours. Have others had long waits to be seated also?
Thanks again.

The last time we were there with reservations it was about a 45min wait. the year before that a little over an hour..

The last time we were there with reservations it was about a 45min wait. the year before that a little over an hour..

We were there on good Friday and the place was packed! We only waited about 5 minutes for our table and were in and out in under 1 1/2 hour. There were six of us - 3 adults, 3 kids...everyone agreed it was one of the best meals of the trip!!!

We have always had to wait to be seated at Ohana. Even when the place was only about half full. My guess would be that on average the wait is about 20 minutes past ADR time. We always plan to be at a TS meal for 90 minutes minimum. I do find that breakfast tends to be a little bit faster.

How long is the wait usually for a 5:05pm reservation? Isnt that when the restaurant opens? THANKS

We've had to wait close to 20 minutes at opening. First, there is quite a line to check-in at opening. Then they take time to seat everyone.

For some reason I made an ADR for opening again in August - not very smart in retrospect.

Ohana was the most rushed meal of our trip...they had us in and out within 45 minutes...it was crazy...the salad, bread, potstickers and wings came out....then no more than 5 minutes later the noodles and broccoli...and then the flood of meats! We asked twice for more potstickers - these came out after we were done...and then dessert was on the table before we knew it. Whew...even typing this took almost as long as my dinner at Ohanas! :rotfl:

We have never been rushed at 'Ohana, in fact the opposite. This one place where slower service is good as you have time to recover between courses.:rotfl2:

You can control the pace somewhat yourself. If the meats come too early simply say no the first time and get them to come back later.

As for the dessert, they should always ask you if you are ready before bringing it.

I would leave at least 90 minutes in total but I also wouldn't be in a hurry to leave.

I would plan on 90 minutes eating time to really enjoy and not rush yourself. Enjoy your vacation. :cool1:

thanks snurk- how early do you recommend we get there to check in?

I think people start checking in 30 minutes before the restaurant even opens. They don't start seating until opening though.

I would either make the reservation for 30 minutes after opening or show up a little after opening to let some of the pack clear.
