This is just for fun and not meant to start any kind of resort comparison discussions, but since there has been discussion in the past about the length of the hallways at BWV, I thought I'd try to find out.

So, last night, using my GPS receiver and some mathematics, I did what I'll call a semi-scientific measurement of the BWV hallways.

But before I post the result, I thought a poll would be fun. So vote what you think the results will show.

The distance being measured was from room 2136 which is at the far Southwest corner of the building, all the way past the elevators and front desk and up to the doors which lead out of the lobby area to the front porch.

I'll post the results we got in a few days and explain how I calculated the numbers. (The GPS doesn't work indoors so I couldn't measure the exact distance directly)

Vote now, then check back next week to see how close you were.

Have fun.

Bill -

I don't know why you needed the GPS;); I put it in mapquest and got 1.22 miles.

(BTW, BWV is my home and I love it, though I do prefer being closer to the elev. or ground floor near the side door)

Bill - Please triple or quadruple the actual GPS result!

P.S. I am a BWV owner and have a vested interest in perpetuating the general belief that the BWV halls are interminably long and the clown pool most frightening! There is already too much competition for good dates and good room locations. :teeth:

I see no need to replace the myths with facts. In addition to convincing more people to stay at BWV, facts will remove a topic of considerable amusement from this forum - How will Rich (and others) be able to post provoking opinions when the facts are so indisputably in front of them??
;) :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

LOL !
Actually....regardless of what the precise measurement is, it still feels l-o-n-g after a full day at the parks. We were near the end of the hallway in August in room #4131. Dh, the kids and I were joking about leaving a trail of bread crumbs to find our way back !
BUT.....we did enjoy our stay there, so sorry Carol about using the hallways as a deterrent. We'll still book there from time to time.

... I went with 600-699. From the elevator to the last room it is approx 600 ft. If BWV is more then 100 feet longer.....that's toooo far.

LOL, I agree 100% with Carol! And Maria has brought up a very good point..........no matter what the real numbers are the halls still FEEL so much longer!!!!!!

We were in 3123 last month and it was a long walk from the elevator. A plus though was the steps were right across the hall, so it was easy to take that shortcut to the parking lot and bus stop. They should have put an elevator in that area.

Bill...did you measure a straight line or did you include the inevitable staggering as the legs start buckling and the kids drop off to go look for provisions? :p

Yep, another BWV owner, trying to discourage others from BWV!

About twice the distance as from building 49 to the Hospitality House at OKW.

we were able to rent a bike to get to our room with a fantastic boardwalk view

LOL!!! I can not wait to show my husband this post!
This past year we had races pushing the umbrella strollers with our kids in them down the halls to and from the elevator.

We smashed them up and often spent the night bending the wheels back and hoping for the best...LOL! My husband even flipped over the stroller once....and limped around all night...of course!

By the way...the kiddies are intact....they loved it...couldn't wait for the race, each day!
