I'm trying to convince dd that we should focus on rides first and then get pics and autographs with the characters, but what will the lines be like in the late afternoon/early evening with the characters? Has anyone tried this approach before?

I hate to spend my entire morning waiting in lines for a 1-second meet with the characters!

It will depend on how busy it is that day and who you are trying to see. Also if the character is 'hidden' and if many people see them. We waiting maybe 10 minutes to see Mickey last December, and that line looked loooong when we first got in. Not a big deal. In the MK, you can usually find a bunch in Town Square in the afternoon, Toontown, in front of POC, old Timekeeper building, Ariel in her Grotto, and then just here and there. Good luck and have fun!

I shouldn't be telling you this...but if you promise not to spread the word.

Goto Epcot early in the morning. They don't have the Characters at the entrance anymore, they are back by the "Club Cool" area and if you visit early you will have them "almost" all to yourself. We got to meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip & Dale, Mary Poppins, the cat (whom I didn't know), a one or two others I can't remember. They were all in one spot and there we were the only ones there....I think its called the character connection and its on the map.

Mid day is definately the worst...try to get there when it first opens, and it wont be so bad. usually toontown fair opens after the rest of the park...me and my gf were walking the path behind Space Mountain to wait for toon town to open, and on the way we had quite an experience. like 10 characters were waving at the train and the turned and waved to us to come take pictures....you might get lucky.

it really depends...we've left AK midday and there were characters outside the park just hanging out with no lines!

Thanks for the info! Hopefully this will help me to convince dd that she will still see plenty of characters AFTER the rides!

Go to Mickeys Toontown Fair at night. In the judges tent you will have the characters almost all to yourself, especially if you go during fireworks.
