how late has anybody received their yellow tags?

HI all! My trip starts 2/2/06 & I was wondering how late people have received their yellow tags for DME. I am a little concerned b/c my e-mail has that I am using DME, but does not have any airline info filled in. When I called DME, they said Oh, I know why-you had to add it later (which is true-I didn'thave the airline info when I reserved the room) so it doesn't show on your e-mail, but he had it on their computer. I know people have used DME w/o the tags, but they usually say to bring your e-mail & since that doesn't show my airline info, I dont' think it would be very helpful! Any thoughts? I've used DME three times now. In June, I traveled on a Sat and got my tags on the Wed just three days before. But, that was a month after the start up so that accounts for that lateness. Then, in August, I booked my trip 6 days in advance...obviously didn't get any tags. Way too close to my departure day. Then, in late Nov I got my yellow tags about 2 weeks before my trip. So, I would expect you would get yours at the 2 week or so mark.
I also never got any kind of confirmation email regarding my DME reservations. Just got my package with all info in that. If you have called them and they have the correct info in their system, you should be fine.

You made me feel better-I will be at my 2 week mark Thursday, so here's hoping! What did you do when you booked so close to the trip-did you just go get your luggage & take it to the bus? tia, Debbie

Don't feel bad. We leave on Friday morning and are still hoping for ours DH did talkk to someone at the from the DME Phone number that is given in a former thread. They said not to worry. if we don't have them. From all the other posts it seems as though it will be ok. But would feel better with them. Good luck to you. I received mine about 18 hours before I left for the airport, but part of that was because my TA didn't understand what DME was and didn't realize that that little packet was helpful.

Naturally, we prepared to do without. To help the CMs identify our bags, my wife bought some of the ugliest, brightest, most obnoxious ribbon she'd ever seen (orange with purple polka dots). We tied a length of ribbon to each of our checked bags, and were prepared to bring a length of ribbon to the DME desk with us, to help them notice our tagless bags when they went to retrieve them. Just a thought ....

I am just inside of 3 weeks myself, so I am not concerned yet. But, can anyone tell me why they wait until 3 weeks before your trip to send the tags seperately rather than include them in the information package sent to me just 2 weeks ago With the DME vouchers inside?

Sorry Lancer can't help you w/ that answer--I have not gotten anything on my reservation-no vouchers, no tags! But I do like your DISboard name-it is the nicname of our HS team that my kids played for , cheered for & my DH coaches! Deb

I had only carry-on for that trip, so yes, it did go on the bus with me. If I had had checked luggage, I would have just gone down and claimed it myself and handed it over to the DME people.

Here's an update--I got my tags today (for the trip down)--I am splitting the stay between AKL & WL, so therefore I guess I will get separte tag envelopes. But I was more worried about my bags getting to WDW. I can deal with the return trip when I am down there! I'll post when I get my return tags. d4est--I throw some pixiedust your way for your tags!

There's no such thing as "return tags." The DME tags function ONLY upon arrival at MCO, ONLY to identify your checked luggage as luggage to be pulled from the system before they reach the baggage claim carousel, to then be routed by truck to your resort and then to your room.

Since they're only used when arriving at MCO (and then to route to your resort), you'll only get one set of DME tags. If you're going from MCO to AKL, your DME tags will say AKL on them. You won't have any need for DME tags that say WL on them, because your luggage will never travel from your airplane directly to WL.

On the way back when your vacation is done, there's no such thing as DME tags. Period. No such thing.

I booked directly w/ WDW, so I think you have it right--they go to the TA first. I think someone earlier posted that their TA didn't realize they needed the envelope-(tey got them 18 hours before leaving!!) so you may want to check w/ them! ( in case they are sitting on someone's desk!) Deb

I am inside the 21 day window so I called last night to check. The only number I had was for CRO so I called to make sure all was okay with reservations. They gave me toll free number for DME. Called them and they said my packet was sent out on Jan 10. That was over a week ago and I have not received it yet? Maybe soon?? But at least I know they have my reservation.
