We have early seating for our upcoming cruise. We would like to have a late dinner at Palo one night, so we can still be with our kids in the regular dining room for our normal dining rotation. I'm thinking DH and I can just get a drink and maybe an appetizer, then have our meal later on in the evening. Does anyone know what the latest reservation they will take would be? Thanks!

You'll definitely be able to do this. Palo is usually open until 9:00pm on port days and 10:00pm on sea days. We often stop in and have a drink and/or an appetizer with our tablemates before eating at Palo.

Thanks!

One more question for anyone out there:
Are there certain nights that are harder to get than others? Are days at sea more popular than port days, or the other way around? I am hoping for a port day, either Grand Cayman or Cozumel.

On the Magic, I don't think that any one day is harder than another to get a reservation. Unless there's some kind of holiday during the trip that everyone might want to spend at Palo, I think the demand is pretty even. We've never had trouble getting the night we want in 10 cruises. On the 4-day, I would think that more people want to eat there on the third or fourth night, since that's when you repeat your rotation restaurant.

I always like eating there on port days. My favorite is to eat while leaving St. Maarten in the summer or fall (it's dark then in the winter). It's nice to watch the island getting smaller in the ship's rearview mirror, so to speak.

Lloyd, if Palo is only open until 9/10pm do you know what the latest reservation time is accepted? Thanks!

Lucky,

When you go to make reservations, they usually have some type of chart which shows the days and times which are still available. I think that they'll actually take reservations up to the time the restaurant is closed, but I'm not positive about that. We did make a 9:00pm reservation once. I don't know if you could make a 10:00pm reservation.
