We are planning on going to either the Poly or GF from Wilderness Lodge to see the fireworks. Whats the best way back? And how late do the buses run? How about from Fort Wilderness (after 930pm Hoop De Doo) to Wilderness Lodge?

First, not sure if you realize, byut you can't take a bus directly from WL to Poly or GF. Buses to the theme parks run for an hour before until an hour after close of that park. Busses to PI and DTD run untli about 2:00am (they won't leave you there).

I'm assuming you mean the fireworks at the MK. There are two easy ways. Take the bus to the MK, then transfer to the monorail to the Poly or GF. The other would be to take the bus to the TTC and then walk to the Poly. Allow up to an hour travel time for either option.

I thought when the buses go to TTC they stop first at WL, then TTC, then Poly, then GF. If I get on a bus that heads towards the TTC doesnt it stop at GF and Poly also?

You have options. There is a bus that runs the FW to WL to TTC route. That bus continues to run very late, well after MK and even other parks close and the last Hoop Dee Doo lets out. You can use that to go to and from the Poly because you can walk to the TTC from the Poly. If you go to GF you will need to take the monorail to TTC to catch the bus. You can also use that for Hoop Dee Doo.

There is a boat from MK to WL that will run until about an hour after MK closes. From Poly or GF you would take monorail (or boat) to MK and catch the WL boat there.

There is a bus that goes to MGM from WL and another to AK that also stops at Poly and GF. They stop running after the closure of those parks. Also, the route may change during the day-- for example with the new bus system you may see direct busses from those parks to WL and separately to Poly and GF at rush times and thus they won't be usable to go from GF or Poly to WL.

After Fireworks, the quickest route back will probably be the TTC bus to FW and WL.

WL, Poly, and GF share a number of their bus routes. If the Downtown Disney route is one of them, the next stop after WL on the way to DD would be the Poly. (TTC isn't part of these routes in general, as I understand.)

To get back to WL, you could take Boone or Crockett from the TTC. (One of them will go straight to WL, the other will go all through FtW first, having just come from WL - I can never remember which is which.)

Similarly, either Boone or Crockett can get you from Hoop de Doo to WL. (Same caveat applies as to which it is!) Or - it's walkable, if you're up for it.

Maybe I'm an oddball, but I find WDW transportation a fascinating thing to learn about - not just to use!

You are probably not an oddball, but most people are more frustrated than fascinated by the complex route structure. But knowing how the system works can get you around the "world" easily. And the system does work. After all, Disney has been refining it for nearly 30 years, and nobody moves people like Disney.

BTW, the Boone goes TTC - WL - campground. The Crockett goes campground - WL - TTC.

:)
