How late are guests allowed to visit resorts

My family is going to Disney World for one week arriving the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We will be staying at the All Star Movies resort, but we are wanting to do some resort hopping to see some of the Christmas displays that we have heard are so amazing. But I have two questions about this:

1. How late are guests of one resort allowed to visit a resort they are not staying at? For example, if we leave Epcot at 9:30 and want to go to the Beach Club at 10:00 would we be allowed to do this, or would it be considered too late. My thought is that if the restaurants and shops are still open, then guests of other resorts can still visit, but I just want to confirm this.

2. Based on my last thought from above, in general how late are the restaurants and shops usually open? I know it probably varies by resort and time of year, but I'm just looking for a general idea.

Thanks to all who answer.

I'm not for sure of this answer..but if you're staying on property and catch that resorts bus, I don't think there's a time frame as to how long you can be there. But, just to be on the safe side, I'd call one of the resorts you want to go to and ask them. I don't wanna give you wrong information!

They don't check your room key or anything when you come into BC or YC via the main doors onto the Boardwalk but I do believe that the gift shops in those two hotels close at 10

The resorts are open 24/7; it is the mode of transportation you are taking to get back to your resort - unless you drive.

The stores are generally open to 11 pm; restaurants about the same and lounges around midnight or so.

You can always catch a taxi from any resort back to your resort, if the park you took the bus to that resort has been closed more than 1-1/2 hours.

Unfortunately, you cannot call the resorts directly. Disney uses CCC and not all the CM's know the right info.

And buses do not run all night. The bus runs 1-1/2 hours after the parks close. You have to go back to a park to transfer back to a resort bus. So, say if the latest park that is open is MK and it closes at midnight, the last bus leaves at 1:30 am.

As I said, after that, you can take a taxi.

You can also take a bus to downtown disney and get a bus back to your resort if you don't drive or want to use a cab.

Well I don't know that the driver would let you get on the bus to go back to a park that is closed....AND technically they say the buses run one and one half hours past park closing BUT the reality is that the buses run until the parks are empty. and if that is two hours or longer then so be it. We have used bus service beyond the 1.5 hour window and transportation has verified that they run until the last guest is out of the park. ;)
Can you tell we like to shut the parks down? We are night owls instead of rope droppers...LOL!! Plus I love seeing the kiss goodnight in MK!!

If you are driving, better get there in plenty of time for the restuarants and gift shops to be open. If you show up at the security kiosk at 11:00 pm or after and just want to go into to look around, security is probably not going to let you in the gates. And why should they? They are there to guard the guests and property of that resort.

Other posters have covered the hours of Disney transportation and parks. So between the two, just be sure that you can get in and out of that resort. Cast members at each resort are going to be looking and possibly questioning people just wandering around the resort once the restuarants/shops are closed. If you are not a guest there, you really don't have any business there that late.

yes the last bus leaves the resort an 1.5 hours after it closes, but the buses are not allowed to take you to a closed park so if the park closes at 11pm you need to board the bus from the resort before 11 or it can't take you there, my wife and i found this out this past June as we had made several ADR's at different resorts and would always try and hop the first bus out and thats when we found out this rule

Last time we were at WDW we hung out at the Poly until around midnight with another couple. We ordered some drinks, sat there, then checked out the grounds and walked along the beach. We just wanted somewhere relaxing to hang out and that was our spot. We ended up getting the boat back to MK where we caught the boat to WL and they caught the bus to POP. It was the MNSSHP so the parks were open later. If they hadn't been, we would have just taken a cab. I've never heard of any restrictions to hanging out in the hotel area unless of course you're causing any issues, which you would not be :goodvibes

Really? What were you doing ? We stay at the GF regular but after ten it is "Tote Hose".
The shops, restaurants and bars are closed.Completely understandable. After ten a family resort needs to be quit and not having drunk people hanging around in bars.

Not the PP but one night I was over at the Poly visiting friends and we got a pizza from Captain Cook's and sat outside enjoying the beautiful weather and talking until well after 1 AM.

The bars/lounges are open until midnite. And adults socializing is not the equivalent of drunk people hanging around in bars. :confused3

Well this is officially my first attack on the boards. :confused3 I never said we were drunk, I said we grabbed a few drinks and hung out and walked around. Drink or no drink, we can sit and chat until however late we want to. "Family resort" or not I'm allowed to do that. I chose to spend my days at the parks or my own resort, and then spend my evenings checking out other resorts. So that's what we did. Since it's vacation, I'm allowed to do just that.

I am not sure where you made the leap from a few people ordering a couple of drinks to being drunk hanging around the bars.

And the lounges close at midnight, not 10:00 pm.

I stay at POR and there is Yee-hah Bob performs a wonderful show until close to midnight in the lounge full of exuberent adults as well as kids. It is people having a wonderful time: not a bunch of people sitting at a local dive trying to out drink each other.

What does "tote hose" mean?

What does "family resort" mean to you, for that matter? The PP hanging out with her husband was with her family, and they were at a resort.

Thanks for the response. This is exactly the information I was looking for. I was working on personalizing a tour plan for my family, and the original plan wanted us to go to the Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts after leaving Epcot one night at 9:30. It just didn't make sense to me to go resort hopping that late at night (especially with kids). Anyway we have rearranged the plan so that we will be visiting these resorts in the middle of the day instead. That way we make sure we can get in and make sure we don't get stuck anywhere with no transportation. Thanks to all who answered.
