How large are kids' meals?

We leave next month for Disney, and we will have our 2 kids with us, ages 3 and 1.

We're on the dining plan so my little one is not included in the plan since he is under 3. So, one CS kids' meal per day included with the plan, plus 2 adult CS meals. Not worried about the TS meals since we are going to character buffets and the little guy eats free there even if we were to pay out of pocket.

Are kids' meals large enough that a 3-yr-old and 1-yr-old can share? I'm the kind of person who will opt for the grilled chicken salad or something light, while DH may get a burger and fries or a sandwich and fries, or maybe even the grilled chicken salad since he also enjoys that sometimes and it will be SOOOOO hot! The pediatrician prefers that we do not give the baby peanut butter until he is 2 years old so he has not had that. I am wondering though if they can share mac and cheese, chicken nuggets or chicken fingers, or a burger. Many times at restaurants they will share a kids' meal burger, or a kids' quesadilla at a Mexican restaurant, and they are fine.

So, are kids' meals big enough for my kids to share, in your opinion? Or should we be prepared to buy something extra for the little guy?

Thank you,
Bonnie

I would think they would be able to share! We took dd (21 mnths) over spring break and she ate off dh and I! We did do several buffets! :rotfl2: We also took some stuff that she likes! Also some CS locations had yogurt which she loves and ate a lot of!:rotfl2:

They can probably share but sometimes we did buy extra fruit or yogurt just because our little one prefers those things and the older one could eat all of that by himself. Of course ours aren't as close in age our older one was 6 when the younger one was 1 so he could eat more than a 3 year old typically can.

Oh, yeah. Plenty to share! I used to get kids meals for myself and it was enough - and I'm a biggggg girl! :rotfl2:

The burgers are the same as the adult size, and the fries are very large portions as well. You'll likely only have to purchase a drink for the little one, unless you bring some.

Probably. My DD was able to eat most of her meal at age 4 1/2, but usually had one of her side choices, such as applesauce, left over that we took with us. It would depend on how much your kids eat. DS(8) always finished and he's small for his age. I'm surprised that many adults say it is enough for them!

I don't think the kids meals are very big, but at your kids' ages I'd think it's enough for them to share. If it's not you can always supplement it by purchasing an extra side dish or piece of fruit which would be relatively inexpensive, or by sharing just a small portion of the adult meals with them. Two adult CS meals and one kids meal is in most instances going to be enough food for two adults and two very young children, IMO.

Kid's meal burgers are not same as adult size when we ordered earlier this week. The bun looked to be no bigger than 3" diameter. You choose 2 sides plus a drink. The kids got double fries as their 2 sides. It's probably enough for your kids to share a meal.

Your kids should be fine sharing kids' meals. This year was the first time my older kids did not share kids' meals - and they're 8 & 6. Up until this year, they shared. Also, DS1 shared with all of us. He'd have a few of my fries, a chicken nugget from DS's meal, etc...No one left the table hungry. Plus, it's always a good idea to save some room for a Mickey bar!
