How is your Ebay going??

I got six just today LOL!

You might want to talk to your bank. Most of mine clear in two days.
Edited to add..when I suggested you talk to your bank, I had brain freeze and was thinking of when I sweep my account. That sometimes takes only 2 days. Clearing of echecks almost always take 4, and once in a while 5. You might want to ask Paypal why your's are taking so long. I am talking business days. If you get a check on Friday, it may not clear until Wednesday.

That's funny, I've been selling on ebay for 5 years and never got one until the past few months, and BOTH took over a week to clear. Ewie!

I get burnout too; I tend to buy and sell in fits, then take months off. I'm on the tail-end of an ebay fit right now :rotfl:

Not doing so good this year.
I have some disney dolls & a coat I bought In Paris.
I think I'm listing them wrong.
Check out diaz93056.
Let me know what I'm doing wrong or what I can change.

Hi Brendita,
I checked out your auctions and have a few suggestions:
  • Consider getting a PayPal account or taking personal checks. Some people will not bid on items if they have to go thru the trouble of getting a money order to complete the deal.
  • Give exact shipping costs instead of an estimate. People want to know exactly how much it's going to cost to get their items, not a ballpark figure that may be higher than originally quoted.
  • Change the coat's title to "PARKA", not "PARKS". It's confusing and may be a little misleading.
  • List the size of the coat and whether it is for a man or woman.
  • Describe the condition of the boxes that the dolls are in. To collectors, the box is just as important as the doll inside. A minor crease or small tear may be nothing to you but a serious collector looks for those details.
Your starting prices are good and in line with other auctions that you're competing with. The shipping for the dolls was a little on the high side when compared with the same dolls that your competition is shipping via USPS Priority Mail. You may want to use that instead. Your auctions still have a few days and many people bid in the last few minutes. Don't be too discouraged if you have no bids just yet.

We've been busy but not as busy as I had hoped. My supplier decided to not package their collectible ornaments the same this year.. GRRR! Now they are a trio!

I bought some on spec, so now I am worrying!

Some other suprises are doing ok.

You definetly need to change "parks". I would of never known what the item was by doing a quick scan of my search results. Change it to parka, coat, jacket. Possibly get all of those in the title. It will help bring up your item when someone is searching.

She's right on. Anytime you're selling high ticket items, you really want the protection of paypal. Jeez, I've even got square trade, on top of that. Also agree with doing a better description-it's all your bidders have to go on, and the better and more complete it is (and easier to read) the more bids you'll have.

My sales have been down so much this year compared to last. I even decided we would skip disney world this month as ebay is always so hectic. Now I think what a WASTE! We should have gone as it never causes a huge problem.

As for the paypal checks, lately mine have also been taking FOREVER to clear, usually only 2-3 days until the past month or two. I am also getting so many of them. I don't understand why people use that choice, it seems odd to me.

Glad to know everyone else's stuff is doing good. Usually this is my busiest time of year as I have tons of toys, blankets, good christmas items! Oh well.

s I edited my above, everyone realized echecks are 4 business days, right? So if you get an echeck on Friday afternoon, the expected clear time is Wed or Thursday, depending on how late in the day it was when given. Most people use them, because they don't have money in their account, and don't have a credit card tied to the account. So then the money is taken from their checking account, and it takes time for Paypal to get that and get it cleared. Right up until it's cleared into your account, they can stop the transaction, so Paypal doesn't want to release it early.

I believe that you have to select to do an e-check. I don't keep funds in my paypal account and do instant transfers from my bank account all the time. I believe that e-checks are for those paypal customers that do not have a bank account linked to their paypal account.

I am new to selling on ebay but I have been buying for several months. How do I get a Paypal account?

DMRick is right, its not having a credit card linked to their paypal acct - I'm almost positive you HAVE to have a bank account linked to paypal. Remember when first signing up for paypal you had to do the secret thing where paypal deposited a small amount into your account & you had to come back & verify what that amount was (not sure if they still do it that way).

Echecks are from people that have a zero balance (or balance lower than the total due) in their paypal account & do not have a CREDIT CARD linked to paypal.

Just like it takes several days to do a transfer from your bank to your paypal account or vice versa it takes several days to clear an echeck since paypal is pulling funds from the linked bank account to paypal. If they had a credit card linked it would be instant, just like a credit card transaction is instant.

I dont always keep a balance in my paypal account & ever since I linked my credit card to paypal, my payments go through instantly, before it was only doing an echeck & taking several business days to clear.

I haven't got many hits on my auction i listed this week. I am a bit surprised since my kids name brand clothes usually do so well.

I also have a set of old disney books up with no bids :(

they still have 2-3 days left so hopefully they will get moving towards the end.

I don't think that kids clothes do very well this time of the year. I think most people are looking for gifts (other than maybe a holiday outfit.)

Badly. I listed two winter coats at the end of October, right when the weather started to get cold. Didn't sell either one (and one was a London Fog!). Re-listed right away, still nothing. But other coats in the same catagory seemed to be selling very well. I have great descriptions and pictures, so I don't know what the deal is.

I think I'm going to give up on selling items and just donate my junk...err...I mean valuable used items to charity and just take the tax deduction. I find I do better by buying on e-bay and saving money over paying retail.

I looked at your books........very cute. You might do better to list them individually. There may be those out there that are looking for one or 2 to complete their sets, or the crazy nuts like me who have to have every Disney book they can find of the character they collect. Yes...I have that Peter Pan and Tinker Bell book. :)

More listing fees but you could research completed auctions to see how similar books have sold. Hope that helps.

Absolutely agree. Very important to collectors.

I sell and ship a lot of dolls. The Holiday (Belle & Snow White) dolls are oversized (much bigger than regular Barbie or Disney dolls) and will need a bigger box and more packing. I normally charge $15 to ship dolls of this size by insured USPS Priority Mail and if you look at Holiday Barbie dolls up for auction (about the same size as these holiday dolls), this is usually the going rate including insurance. So $9.00 by UPS which includes insurance is a bargain.

Is it too late to sell Xmas ornaments? I have been cleaning (see my "Daunting Task" thread) and have found a half dozen Christopher Radko MM ornaments I bought probably 10 years ago that I never used. I have not Ebayed, but I might get my DS or DD to list them. Would I be too late to get rid of them?

Thanks.

Sharon

You could take a chance w/ the ornaments. However, you'll need to do it fast. Like in the next day or so. Also, I'd consider a shorter listing to get them to end sooner. You really don't want them running through like the 15th or something.
