How is today's snow affecting you??

No, it isn't sarcastic......unfortunately, I do have some physical limitations...so just a few inches of snow to clean off a car is not a problem for me. Lifting over 8 inches of snow (plus what the plow piled behind the car) without the shovel (which DH has in his car across town) can be a little problem.

I live in Howard County and DH works in Montgomery County.

 It is hard when we have physical limitations. I know what you mean. I had a 3 hour nap, and can't lift my arms over my head. I will pay tomorrow. I hope you are all safe/warm and sound.

My DH broke his foot in 3 places a month ago...just in time for all the snow we have seemed to have weekly here. So I have been shoveling the driveway and walkway by myself..first time ever :(
To top it off today is my birthday and I had big plans with my DD to go out do some girl shopping and get our nails done (something I never do so this was my treat) but nope stupid storm came in early and ruined all my plans..bummer. Plus side my DH sat on the floor (since hes not allowed to put any weight on his foot) and him and my DD made me a cake for my birthday so that was sweet :lovestruc

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!! I hope it was a nice evening. It sure sounds like it. Very sweet family. Hopefully you can get your nails done together tomorrow or soon. :grouphug:

Snow day today from school. I work at the school so no work for me!! Yesterdays snow didn't affect me. i was able to get all my errands done...today I will shovel and hang out at home and enjoy a quite day. I had nothing planned for today after work anyway. I may be a mean Mom and make the kids clean their rooms!!

Same here - just got the no school call. Nothing like waking people up at 5:30am to tell them not to get up. (Our house was already waking up, though. DH has to get to work.)

I plan to be a mean mom, too, and make DS do some math practice and study for the spelling test he has tomorrow. But we'll do something fun, too - maybe make rice krispie treats or something.

Not at all. It passed us by. We are supposed to have a high of 41 today. We will see.....

Stay safe to all of you out there dealing with it.

I let my poor dog out this morning not realizing just how much we had gotten and it was up over her chest so I had to throw on a coat and boots real quick to dig her out and make a path for her. Otherwise she was kind of stuck! At this point, we have had so much snow it's an issue trying to find someplace to put it. I love snow, so I'm not complaining. I see shoveling as really great exercise so I don't mind getting out there but as I threw snow up to make a path it just rolled right back down. Luckily, DH came home from work and got out the snow blower since that can throw the snow up high enough to go over the existing snow banks. I'll leave in a few minutes to try to make my way to the office. I just hope everyone else stays home so I am not stuck in traffic the whole way in.

Well no snow here in Ohio, thankfully, but DH did get stuck in Philly last night since they closed the airport just a few minutes before his flight was supposed to leave. Since he was there as the pilot and didn't make it to the hotel until 3am, his work can't even put him on an early flight this morning to get home (duty rules for pilots and all), so he won't be home until tonight. He said he's going to try to catch an earlier flight on his own, but I doubt that will happen with all the other people trying to get home.

Funny thing is two of my co-workers were in Philly yesterday for work and were supposed to be on the same flight as DH so they are stuck there with him. I'm just happy I'm not there too, I was supposed to go on that business trip for the day but being 34 weeks pregnant I didn't think it was wise.

this winter, I'm having my dh plow (he has a plow on his 4-wheeler) big paths in the yard for the dogs so they can go potty! Both dogs are big (80 lbs) but we can get so much snow they have a hard time doing their thing some winters. Now we have big plowed paths all over our yard, so they're like running tracks for the dogs - they love it! And I have easy cleanup!

I'm so ready for Spring! No school again today after an early dismissal yesterday and there is another snow system coming on Tuesday when my DH will be away on business :scared1:

We got 14 inches. This is setting the record books for the snowiest January here in NJ or so I've heard.

The worst part is that our snowblower died and my DH hasn't been able to find one....so it's hand shovelling  Thank goodness for wonderful neighbors who are helping with their snowblowers :lovestruc

Here in CT it's been the snowiest month ever, and we could still get some more Saturday.

And-my shovel broke. I hope I can get the shed open later to dig out the garden shovel.

What a nightmare commute yesterday. It took my DD 8 hours to get from Tysons Corner to Springfield. We should be able to get around a little later today.:thumbsup2

We have another 10 inches of snow on top of all the other storms we have had. I am northwest of Boston. It will be another day of being late to work. At least they are understanding. It looks like the Arctic out there. I am hoping for an early Spring.

DH is out using the snowblower and it looks like we got at least 7 inches. My office is closed (gov) and DH is a gov contractor who has to make up the time or take leave. The bigger problem we have around here is the snow fell so fast and was so heavy that people abandoned cars so they're still blocking some lanes on some roads. I have a friend who lives 10 miles from work and it took her 6 hours to get home. Another took 8 hours to go 35 miles. It wasn't caused by bad driving or not knowing how to drive in the snow, it was the way the snow fell and how many offices didn't close until the weather was getting bad. I love how people say "they've been wrong every time this year". Terrible excuse. I watched the radar and the forecasts and wasn't surprised at all. If you looked at the radar and the temps, it was easy to see what was coming. I stayed home yesterday and I had DH leave early (told my DS's also and they came home early) and none of us got stuck.

OMG I feel so bad for your DD they were showing the roads around Tysons all night yesterday, people were parking on the roads (as they were not moving and had not been moving for hours) and running into nearby businesses to go to the bathroom as they were not moving at all!!

I live in Springfield and even though work was delayed to a 10 am opening I got in at my usual time around 7:15am as the roads have been pretty well taken care of in my area and the busses/metro was running

I think Spring will bring another whole set of problems though. What's going to happen when all of this melts? I was saying to my DH this morning we should probably prepare the basement for some flooding when it starts to warm up.

Thank you :) Thinking I might have to wait to spring the way the weather is going on here

DH works in MD and we live in N VA. He had little trouble getting home last night till he got to about a mile from our house, from there it took him an hour to make it home:scared1: We lost our power last night around 6 pm and finally got it back this morning at 9. The furnace is working overtime right now.

I left at 12:30 when the Feds called a 2 hour dismissal (my normal time off is 2:30). I got home quickly as nothing had started yet.

I had planned to telework today but heard the roads were good so I took advantage of the 2 hour delay to wait for sunrise. It was the best commute into DC that I've had in a decade! Glad I decided to go in!
