DH just called - - he has driven one mile away from his office in the last hour and a half :scared1:. He has decided just to turn around and stay the night at the office, since on a normal day it takes him an hour to get home...tonight, who evens know if he would make it???

Luckily, I was off today and home, but uggg....I have no idea how I am going to be able to clean off my car by myself.

So, how is everyone else doing?

edit to add: Just heard a big "crack" outside, huge tree limb starting to fall down outside, luckily I don't think it will hit any cars. The snow is really clinging to trees so bad, many branches are coming down and turning off electricity to some parts of our area.

My husband won't be home tonight and who knows about tomorrow poor guy. I've already shoveled the driveway once and will have to do it again and half the street if my husband wants to get to our house.

What snow???? It was bright and sunny most of the day, but the high was only in the low 60s.

oh, I'm so jealous!! we were snowed in, but we homeschool, so it doesn't really matter to us, except that the kids missed gymnastics today, but that's living in NY.

We're in Loudoun County, VA and we have at least 6 inches that fell in just a few hours. We know several people that got stuck or took 4 hours to get home from work (normal 45 minute commute). I know of a few kids who got stuck at George Mason Univ. because school didn't close til it was too late. The roads are a mess.

It took me 2 hours to go 2 miles this morning. 3 hours total to get to school (there wasn't a delay or closure :confused3). I got there just in time to hear that we were going to close early. It's really coming down now, and I just got the call that we are off tomorrow.

Took me over two hours to get home. Near zero visibility. Cars off the road and in the woods all over the place. There's only one thing to do after a commute like that. :drinking1

DH got on to one road to his way to work & started to slide. He turned right around & came home! He had his laptop so he worked from home...sitting in the recliner whilst I brought him coffee. What a life;)
He'll probably stay home tomorrow too. He has an hour-and-a-half commute. It would take him forever to get to work.
We also home school but I let the kids have a snow day today & tomorrow they want to shovel, so Friday we'll play catch up.

Same here, and I am not even in Florida. It was 32 yesterday. I put on a sweater this morning but had to change by afternoon.

I lived in Pittsburgh in 1978 when they had one of the worst winters ever. I think we had over 80 inches of snow. Boy was I miserable. I spent the following years in TX, LA and mostly CA - avoiding the snow. Here in Arkansas we may get one snowfall a year, and that is more than enough for me.

Where are you in Maryland?

I see you are in Delaware.

We are in Maryland right next to DE and it is really snowing. DH is out plowing the driveway now. We are on a well so I think I'll fill the tub in case we lose power so we can flush toilets.

I am supposed to go to Baltimore tomorrow for a class but I don't think that will happen.

I was lucky enough to work from home today. I'm glad I did. I have friends that are still stuck out there. One co-worker has been out there nearly 4 hours. All the off-ramps are blocked with stuck cars. I just finished my last round of shoveling. That is some wet, HEAVY snow. I'm glad I'm done.

I was thinking the same thing. Snow has been absent so far this year. Our January total snowfall is negative something. How can we have a negative average? :confused3

Anyway, we are cool (low to mid 50s and almost to 60 degrees this weekend), dry, and plenty of sunshine. No snow at all -- one of the driest winters on record so far.

" but uggg....I have no idea how I am going to be able to clean off my car by myself."

I hope that's sarcastic.
BTW in NW Ohio it's upper 20s but no snow at all. We are way below normal for the winter. It's all going East, I guess.

Let me check...

No snow here, but hey, you never know.

Snowed here off/on all day long. Did not effect me at all, but then again we are used to it.

I wish I did not have to clean my truck, but no choice. Had to do that sucker 3x today.

No, it isn't sarcastic......unfortunately, I do have some physical limitations...so just a few inches of snow to clean off a car is not a problem for me. Lifting over 8 inches of snow (plus what the plow piled behind the car) without the shovel (which DH has in his car across town) can be a little problem.

I live in Howard County and DH works in Montgomery County.

The snow here is very wet and very heavy. Be careful Lassie Lynne.

Thanks. Might just take a Taxi to work (if I can get one) and then DH can help me whenever he gets home.

Kinda funny, DH's boss and two co-workers also couldn't get home and they are all camping out at his office....yep, they should have let them go home a little early today.
