How is this acceptable FP+ lovers?

Really? Even before FP+ there have been occasions where I've had to wait in line to get onboard (yes, even outside the turnstiles on a couple of occasions, and yes we did wait). No way has it been a complete walkon every single time I've tried to ride it over 12 years. Sometimes it is, especially near closing.

We waited ONCE but it was on a trip with dd's choir and in April. Even then, you couldn't see the line outside the building, it was well inside the building. But on our family trips that we have taken all at Thanksgiving--no, not once. In fact, when we did wait on that one time, I told dh and dd "this is kind of nice because we are getting to see all the stuff in the line. Every other time there was no line, we just walked through to the place where you board the boats. There may have been a little wait there.

Is this line acceptable? Probably not. Not because it's too long a wait but because it's not directed well. There's a lot of space there, couldn't they (Disney) form the line in a way that doesn't block the walkway? Hopefully they will address these kinds of problems and prevent (as much as possible) this kind of congestion.
me!

Exactly right- We walked, or tried to walk, past what was no more than a 5 minute line for IASW because the guests had decided rather than line up against the wall, to drag the line, in single file, across the walkway.

The fault wasn't fp+, the fault lies in WDW not having a CM out there to move that line. 30 seconds and that line wouldn't have even been noticeable, but my first reaction was...wth??? IASW has a line like THAT???

nobody else remembers when they would put chains up under the portico and they'd wind all around and you'd wait in line? nobody? I remember it but of course I haven't seen it in years. Do they run the ride better now or is it just not in demand? I don't go at the major holidays though.

Been there during major holidays and don't think I ever waited more than a half hour.

If I went now I wouldn't wait more than a half hour either because if I see on my lines app that the line is long I just go on another attraction.

However, there's no way I'd like to see that line if I had a FP+ or not.

I have not read this whole thread. I am here now (been here since Sun) and besides Splash yesterday lines have been under 5 for us. Have done PP, 7dmt, big thunder, toy story, ToT, EE, Safari and Splash. Splash yesterday was around 15 mins for FP. I think standby was around 5 mins at that time. In a happy note, we were able to ride EE 4 times in a row today under 40 min total. Could have done many more times except my brain can't handle it.

So what you're saying is you're fine with that line backing out into major walkways?

I am fine if it was for a legitimate reason such as the ride being down for an hour or two displacing ALL the guests who had a FP during that time.

Same thing happened during legacy.

This is called an anomaly. If this was how it was ALL of the time, it would be more problematic and an extra scanner or two could fix that. But like back in the legacy days--folks who missed the window due to ride being closed, should have those pass honored when the ride reopened. And that is not only acceptable, it is expected.

I guess I don't understand why the OP thinks they are really showing these darn FP+ lovers a "thing or two" by posting a picture of a line for a ride that had been closed down 2 hours previous. And a very popular ride at that. Of course the line will be long. It is an atypical situation that is being portrayed as common and a result of FP+ of which both assertions are incorrect.

So, the point of this thread is what? To spread worry to the new folks who do not know any better? Nice...Very Disney-like of you.

I mistook the point of the thread to be the length of the line and the amount of time it would take to go through it, and now realize it's that the OP doesn't like the fact that there is a line visible outside the attraction entrance and thinks the line should always be inside. There's a pretty long queue inside. Was that line a result of a back up of folks using the first FP scanner? That could be where the blame lies. Of course I'm not saying that I think having the line outside is a bad thing, I remember it being outside long ago (and back then it meant you had a really long time to wait)

Actually the line was open for two hours, it was the two hours before that it was closed if I am reading it right.

Not sure what that has to do with FP+ since this was due to a ride breakdown.

Of course it has to do with FP+. With legacy FP they stop distributing FPs during a ride breakdown so at least the backlog gets diminished. With FP+ the slots are distributed in advance without the knowledge that there will be a breakdown.

That is an excellent point. An unintended consequence of scheduling in advance.

Regardless, it is not a typical situation and the cause of the line had a lot more to do with the ride being down for a period of time than anything having to do with FP+ but the OP was clearly trying to tie it to the FP+ system.

I am sure there are flaws and inconsistencies in the FP+ system that can be directly related without trying to connect dots that are not there.

Legacy fast passes were distributed in advance as well without knowledge that there would be a breakdown.

But they didn't pile up while the ride was down. FP distro stopped during the outage, relieving the pressure for later in the day. That happens to a lesser extent with FP+ because they can only turn off FPs not already scheduled (same-day FPs).

Ummmm....That wasn't his point. Because he didn't know when he posted this thread that the ride was closed and he's still arguing that the effects of the closure would've been long over with. His position is- this is what the ride looks like all the time.

This is why I'm going to DLR for the next year or so. Waiting/hoping to see FP+ go away.

I've never waited longer than 20 minutes for Pirates, and it's usually more like 5-10. Now it takes that for the FP. Stupid.
