How is the Trail End Buffet?

Thinking about going to Fort Wilderness to try it. Is it good food? Worth the price? All the other buffets in Disney are just too expensive. Can anyone comment for us? Thanks! :goodvibes

My family enjoys it. The fried chicked is really good. I think some of the other buffets have better food (like Boma), but Trail's End is really good. We make a point to go every trip. Its the only place were I let DS eat his jello through a straw, thanks to a wonderful waiter named "Uncle" Gary. Give it a try and then head to the campfire and movie afterwards.

We love Trails End and we have dinner there a few times each trip. The fried chicken is yummy and my husband loves the apple crisp dessert. It's reasonably priced, casual, relaxed with friendly service. :thumbsup2

breakfast is absolutely yummy!
Mickey waffles... mmm...
when we stay at WL we make it a point to go there at least once... :)

Is this a restaurant that I should make an ADR for? Is there usually a wait or is it more like a self-serve kind of thing?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

We eat Breakfast there and the food taste just like the food at Chef Mickey's, but not as many choices. It was will worth the money if your paying, if your on the Dining Plan I wouldn't bother. If you go it might be better to take the boat over from MK if your already over that way. We actually drove over and parked, then we had to walk over to the bus stop- take a the bus- then walk over to the restaurant.

And yes I would make a Ressie - when we were there they were turning people away that didn't have one- but this was Easter Week

It's my favorite place to eat for breakfast on property (they have a good lunch and dinner too). I think the food is much tastier than Chef Mickeys. There isn't as much of it, but I don't need much to fill me up.

Definitely make an ADR.
Last time we were there (sept - slow season), I was able to make ADR in the afternoon-ish (2pm) for dinner at 6:30. But by the time we got there they were putting people on half hour to 45min wait and we got seated right away... :)
So yeah, I would make an ADR.

I agree with the previous poster about DDP. If you're on DDP it might not be the best bang for the buck. But OOP, it's wonderful!!!

No, we aren't on the dining plan and are trying to save $$. It's a last-minute budget trip before our APs run out.

We are going to MK that day and had wanted to go to the Crystal Palace, but they recently raised their price to $28 per person. Since we don't care whether the characters are there or not (2 twenty-somethings going), we thought we could take a boat over there and have dinner there. Really wanted to do a buffet one day. Definately want one for dinner.

Thinking this may be the place for us. Thanks! :thumbsup2

I definitely suggest trails end. It tends to be cheaper in price than some of the otehr buffets and in all the times we have eaten there (usually average twice a trip) we have NEVER been disappointed.

We love TE for breakfast or dinner. It is a great buffet and you can't beat the price.

You can't call ahead for Trails End - you just walk up, I didn't realize you could call same-day though?

Trails End can be busy or not - and you never know which until you get there! It is worth the wait, IMHO - and they give out pagers that have a decent radius, so you can have a nice walk while waiting.

The food is great and the place is decorated with a rustic theme. We love it! :lovestruc The fried chicken is the best ever!

Actually I just called and made an ADR for them... :)
My friend who's a CM said that they used to not do ADRs there but they changed it.

We ate there for breakfast in December and loved it. We were the first ones there and had the whole place to ourselves. Food was really good and nice variety. Then, we took the boat over to MK - a very enjoyable way to start the day! Would like to try the dinner next visit!
