I'm looking into doing this character breakfast with my wife, 2 kids, two inlaws. We have done the 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace in the past. What is your opinion as to wether or not we will be happy with it? It doesn't get very good reviews.
Tks

Hey neighbor,
Just got back the end of August. We've been to WDW every year since 1994. This was w/o a doubt the worst meal we've ever had. I should've listened to everyone on the boards. The food was cold and mediocre at best. We were told that all of the characters take at least an hour to come by your table and they were right! After an hour we had only seen Chip! Also, the servers were not friendly at all. The kids couldn't wait to try the chocolate french toast - regular french toast w/hershey's syrup drizzled on it. 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's were much better!!! I still like Ohana's the best for a character breakfast.

Thanks for the reply. Guess we'll head elsewhere. Funny you said neigbor, I grew up in Trumbull many years ago (up in Tashua area, Westfield Dr.)

We have a character lunch planned for Sunday, Sept. 22 with 2 adults and 2 kids ages 5 and 8.
Is the food really that bad?
Are the characters good there?

Thanks for the info.
This is our first trip to Disney.

I also have Chef Mickey dinner scheduled and Donalds Breakfastasaurus scheduled on other days.
Does anyone have any info on those?

Thanks:earsgirl:

We enjoyed Hollywood and Vine last Jan but did not like Donald's Breakfasaurus. The food was only fair but character interaction was good.

firstmickey - We have eaten at the H&V character lunch on our last 2 trips to WDW. We really love the character interaction & the food has always been great. We always go to lunch right as it is starting - I think around 11:30 am. This may have something to do with getting hot, fresh food. The restaurant is usually pretty empty so early, so that may also relate to the great character interaction.

They usually have a variety of meats, my DH really enjoyed their Salmon last time. My favorite is the dessert bar :D !

We did not enjoy Chef Mickey's for Dinner - food was just OK & characters were hardly around at all. It was very busy when we went, which probably made it worse, but when Mickey came to our table he wouldn't even pause for a picture!

We plan to do Donald's Breakfast this December - hoping it is good.

Hope this helps!

arizonacolbys....We have done Donaldsbreakfastasaurus 2x and we love it each time. The food was good and the interaction with the waiters was great. They are very funny. The characters were great too.

I also did the breakfast at H & V and didn't find it to be too horrible. We had excellent character interaction and th food wasn't all that bad. We were there off-season so maybe that's why. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky we caught it on a good day!!

my2boys - I can't wait for Donald's Breakfast - I've heard some pretty good reviews of it.

Now that I think about it, we have only been down in the off-season for the last couple of years - January & September. Maybe that is the difference in service & experiences there. We will be going in the off-season again this year - in December - & plan to eat at H&V again. I'll post my review when we return.

We haven't found any other good restaurants at MGM. H&V continues to be our favorite there. :)

You will find a wide range of opinions on most WDW restaurants on these boards.

We ate breakfast at H&V in June, and thought it was one of the best meals that we had. We had a PS for the earliest time, and saw lots of the characters. The food was hot and good. Waiter was great.

In 5 trips to WDW, our worst meal ever was at AK's Breakfastsaurus. The food was cold, and nothing special. Many platters remained empty throughout our visit. After being there for more than 1 hour, we never saw all of the characters. Our waiter was very nice, but the manager to whom we complained (about not getting to see the characters) was rude.

I have eaten both breakfast and lunch at H&V. I thought the food at breakfast was pretty bad. It was cold and bland. Lunch was much better. The character interaction was awesome both times.

Thanks for all the replies about the character lunches and breakfasts.
I plan to just enjoy the experience no matter what!
Everyone has a different opinion on service and food (but I enjoy hearing them all).

WE've eaten there the last two Februarys and thank god for great charcters. Food is abysmal.
