How is the fantasmic show at MGM

I would say it depends. I would like to see it again, this time not penned up in the standing room only area. The line was so long and we got there early, apparently not early enough, and ended up watching it packed in like sardines and standing, and not being able to see very well. If you had asked right after the shhow, I'd have been not very complimentary, I'm sure, in fact I think we left before the show was even over. But if we'd had seats, we might have liked it better.

I enjoyed Fanstasmic the first time I saw it, and would encourage you not to miss it.

However, after seeing it several times, it's getting kind of stale. I was just thinking the other day that it's time for WDW to come out with Fantasmic 2.0.

anyone that says they do not love fantasmic needs to stay at Universal!!!
That's not true. My family members and myself are some of the biggest Disney fans on the planet. We wouldn't dare go near Universal, but we don't really care for Fantasmic. It's definitely something you should see once because the show is very good, but the line is not worth it for us. We'd rather be watching Wishes or riding rides. JMHO. :goodvibes

My family and I were there in June 2005 for the first time. We absolutely loved Fantasmic! My 6 yr old daughter was thrilled with all the charachters that were in the show. I would not miss it. Illuminations is great too! Unfortunately did not get to see Wishes while we were there. I hope you have a great time whether you see it or not!

I don't respond to many posts, being more of a lurker, but I had to reply to this question. I would definately recommend seeing it. :thumbsup2 I believe I have seen it at least 5 times, and I love it as much, if not more, every time I see it.

I wouldn't say that Fantasmic is the most amazing in WDW, but it is very good and certainly worth it with dinner package. You won't be sorry you saw it.

You must see Fantasmic! It was one of the hightlights of our trip. Even my sourpuss husband was impressed. In my opinion it is a Disney must-do!

Go see it- at least once. Personally, we were underwhelmed by it, but everyone has a different opinion.

I echo this sentiment. It's OK (more for kids IMO), and you should probably see it once, but not instead of Illuminations or Wishes.

I don't like standing in line or with a hoard of people waiting for something, so the dinner package was great for us. We just took our time eating, then went through the 'back way' about 20 mins before showtime. It was great and not too expensive. We really enjoyed the show and were glad we made the effort - the previous few visits we had skipped it because of my crowds issue (now you know why we travel in February LOL). DS is 4 and loved it as well - although his eyes were pretty big during the 'villains' segment. He talked about the giant snake and dragon for the rest of the vacation and still does! I would definately recommend going. :thumbsup2

It's the best show in the parks because they select the best cast members to do the show. I wouldn't miss it.

Fantasmic is my favorite show at disneyworld :wizard: . I have to see it every time I go. It's something that you should not miss.

OK, I have to be the one who pees in the pool. I didn't like it.

Now I should preface this with I am from California. I've seen the original Fantasmic at Disneyland. After seeing that show on the Rivers of America, this one is a really poor copy.

If you haven't seen the Disneyland show, I imagine you would like this one.

To me the story was convoluted. The characters were too jumbled and the space was too cramped. Also the climax to me was lame. Mickey holds up a "sparkler sword" and the dragon sinks down whether in shame or embarrasment, I'm not sure.

At Disneyland, the story is tighter, the characters more streamlined, the finale has Mickey actually slaying the dragon (a laser goes from his sword to the dragons chest and they are across from each other instead of one in front of the other) and at the end the characters are all on the huge paddleboat.

We also had a whole group of socially challenged teens behind us that I just wanted to throttle. No parents in sight.

Now I know that MGM has less space, no huge river, no paddleboat. But this was my experience. It's like going to Paris, seeing the Eiffel Tower and then going to Epcots France and seeing theirs.

So if you have never seen the show, go. If you've seen Disneylands, do something else with your night.

What....there's a difference between Epcot's France and the real France?!?

When we went last year, they had the paddleboats with the characters on them. I don't remember if there was a laser from Mickey's sword to the dragon, but I definitely remember the paddlewheel boats b/c I tried to take a picture of them and it didn't turn out b/c it was too dark. :)

We just saw the 8:30 pm show on Thursday night. It was great! We had not taken the time over the last few years to see the show. We won't miss it again. We had a great time and then went to Beaches & Cream for a Kitchen Sink for a great end to a wonderful day!

WOW...I was at Disneyland June 2005 and Disneyworld just last week...and I could not help thinking how it was so much better at World...at Land the area that Mickey is on is so much smaller....you fight for over an hour for a place to stand instead of a place to set...then your like sardines trying to get out when its over....I'll Take MGM's version over land any day of the week....

We loved Fantasmic!! Did the dinner package at Hollywood and Vine and the seats although to the far right were great. We have never been to Disneyland so we can't compare, but we would go back to see this show again in a heartbeat!!!

how does the dinner and the fantasmic work... are there certain places you have to eat?

You can do Mama Melrose's, Brown Derby, or Hollywood & Vine, and it has to be reserved in advance. When you're done eating, they give you a ticket and tell you to go to a secret location about 30-45 minutes before showtime. There's a separate section reserved, but you're still "competing" with the other Dinner Package guests, so don't dawdle too much.

We've got ours set for Wednesday night (the 8th) to close out our time at WDW before we head to the cruise ship Thursday morning.
