How is the DIS bankrupting you?

Similar to the previous poster, am I the only one who really doesn't find the sparkle skirts to be that cute. I've looked and looked at them because I feel like I must need one. I just don't see any that I would actually wear.

I don't like the sparkle shorts or VB bags! I hate a VB wallet but had to stop using it after a year bc the fabric one the corners wore away.

You have several cute patterns there but I'm not getting the whole VB thing. They look like quilted fabric. Is that accurate? I know I'm completely in the minority here but for the money I would something more than quilted fabric.

Yes, majority are quilted fabric. There are also more expensive leather bags, but I don't have one of those. Also, some of the fabrics are much stiffer than others. The two solid colors are the stiffer ones. The only ones I paid full price for, was the little pink one, and Mickey one, and that was with a gift card, so I only paid a few dollars of my own. The Fanfare, Marrrakesh and Cheery Blossoms were about $34 each. I don't think that's too unreasonable. I have had no problems with the quality or construction of the bags. Since I use them all the time, it makes the cost per wear very low.

I don't think you're necessarily in the minority. Actually most people I know, don't like them. Lol. Not even sure why they grew on me. :D

Same here. But I'm also not a skirt girl (although I wouldn't mind being so).

No interest here either. They just aren't my thing.

made the mistake of looking up what sparkle skirts are :sad2:

...now i need some :ssst:

but first let me ask, are they REALLY worth $70? I will say that after a few days at Disney, if i'm not wearing long enough shorts, chafing does get to be an issue. do the shorts underneath ride up at all?

Can't answer your question about sparkle shorts but I do know that Gold Bond Friction Defence was amazing (!!!) at keeping my inner thighs dry and friction-free! I also used it on my feet and in between my toes to prevent blisters. I did get a blister on my one baby toe, but I blame that on my foot pronation issue.

I've been looking into what to expect for an August trip, and now I think I need moisture wicking socks, a wide-brimmed hat, and keens. Also going to look into nice make-up that will hold up for all my photopass pics! lol

ps. I have already purchased mister fans, frogg toggs, ponchos and lots of sunblock.

This is hilarious. We're planning our 4th trip with our daughter, now 11, first trip with her when she was 4, plus many, many pre-kid trips.

My list:
Body Glide
Over the door organizer
Garden Grocer
Airport limo service
Deluxe - groan!
Ziplocs for kids outfits
Glow sticks
"Princess gifts"
Baggalini

The thing is, this stuff has become my special Disney hoard. When I pull out the box of (frankly frivolous) stuff, I get a lovely little shiver. "I'm going to DISNEY!" I know you understand.

We found the organizer to be less useful than we'd like. Semi-useful at POFQ and POR, useless at AKL. Weve switched to collapsible cloth boxes. One for each of us, one for electronics, one for sunscreen & first aid.

Body Glide is AWESOME! Rub it on your feet instead of wasting 20 minutes a day cutting up moleskin.

Bagless bags are also amazing, even if you go through the bag line. Once your kids are older it's a great way to find what really matters and MINIMIZE the unnecessary stuff.

But my favorite is my Baggalini. I mean Baggalinis. All of them. My go- to bags - I have 4 now. One is turquoise... What self- respecting, conservative, mature adult woman owns a turquoise purse? I never even owned a purse until I was in my 30's.

About the Deluxe resorts: We followed a predictable pattern, All- Stars, Moderates, then we couldn't get a PO one trip. Helpful CM finds sn AKL standard room for the same price as POFQ. Standard room became Savannah View thanks to tips I read here. I love both PO resorts but...no balcony? Now we're renting points from DVC owners at BC...So...Where does this end? Why wasn't my beloved POFQ good enough this trip? What will we end up paying NEXT time?

And now I have to shop for packing cubes. Color coordinated of course.

(P.S. Thank you)

In the August heat, definitely get the smartwool socks (a Godsend!), but skip the make-up...not in that humidity!
Oh my!

Haha! "Frankly frivolous" :lmao:I get it!

My Baggalini is grey...I'm so "safe" lol...this "conservative, mature adult woman" needs one in turquoise! :thumbsup2

Isn't that where we are??!?!? ;)

I don't think so! A DA group would be supporting those who want to kick their habit! This group is encouraging the behavior!

I, too, looked at Sparkle Skirts online before my September trip, but decided they were too expensive. After my DD's need to have VB bags when she was in middle school (10 years ago) I have never wanted one. Not even gonna look at packing cubes - they don't sound like anything I would be interested in.

I read the first question, but not through the whole thread. We love Disney , especially with the grandkids, we know the parents are tight for money so guess who covers most of the expense. We have 5 grandkids (ages 9-6). Tomorrow we leave for their 4th trip to Disney since 2010, but to me it's worth every penny. As they grow, we get to experience different things with them. This will be the first time that 3 of them will be able to do Space Mountain!
But Grandma is retiring as of May, so we may have to re-evaluate how we do things. But as I've said , It's been worth every penny!!

Love this theead!

What is:

The Magical Deal?

Are the skorts you are talking about the ones that look like a tutu is attached to it? Can someone please post the link? I really hate to wear shorts especially in the parks, I dont like my skin touching he rides but the tutu skorts look cute for running a RunDisney race.

Thank you!

I know how did I go from 5 value resort stays. Then staying at a moderate the last time? Turn into renting DVC ???:rotfl2:

Oh my!

I have to second this. I've gone the past two Augusts. It's hot and humid and you will sweat like mad. I used moisturizer with 50 SPF, rather than use sun block on my face. But I didn't bother with makeup at all except one night when we went out for dinner and we'd been to the pool for the afternoon and cleaned up afterward.

Another vote for the wool socks - SmartWool is good, so is Darn Tough. I also like to get the ones made for hiking because they add extra cushion in the heel and ball of the foot that I am thankful for by the end of the day.

And as for the make-up, forget about it!!! Nothing in the parks and I just bring along a lipstick and tube of mascara for nicer dinners. I figure I will already have rosy cheeks from being out in the sun. :P

I just posted a new thread about make-up....You are actually trying to minimize my expense, and I don't think I can do it!!! lol

I don't get the packing cubes; we normally unpack into drawers and shelves. I hate living out of my suitcase. Also, against my better judgement, I looked up the sparkle skirts, thinking they wouldn't make them big enough for me. Wrong... they do...and I can see how lovely these'd be in the heat of August. Fortunately they are SO far out of my budget range that I can easily resist!

The benefit of the packing cubes is you can take them out of the suitcases and put them straight into the drawers or on the shelves. Unpacking done in seconds. Plus how often do you think housekeeping (at any hotel) actually cleans those drawers etc? It means your clothes are still fresh and not touching the dust/dirt etc that might be in the drawers.

Or unpack into drawers and then put dirty clothes back into the packing cubes to keep separate from the clean.

Easy peasy.

My parents bought us a couple of sets years ago and we just thought they were stupid until the first time we used them. Now we use them all the time. We also use the big clear vacuum storage bags to fit more in for going home. I have a Disney Sweatshirt addiction and DH has a tshirt addiction.

I'm loving the sparkle skirt idea, but I'm in the UK so wouldn't know where to look, and also don't think I have the figure to carry if off :(
