How is the crowd mid August?

Looking to see if we need to stay at RPR, HR or PBR for the Express Pass with check in 8/12-8/16. Most schools in SC and GA are back in school by then. I'm doing a last minute trip plan and I can't seem to find this thread.

We went the week of August 20 last year and it was pretty manageable. I'd say about a 5/10 on a scale of crowdedness. The lines weren't walk-ons like early in the year, but weren't terrible to wait in like mid-summer.

Transformers: 25 minute wait

The last two years for us were 3rd week Aug. We stayed RPR and zoomed around with the EP's. We saved some dough last Aug by staying at CB. We had a great time seeing the extended standby lines and not really waiting much at all. Use rope drop, take midday breaks, watch the line times on the app and stay in the parks until evening (no lines at that time). Very relaxing vacation.

The overwhelming majority of FL schools go back between the 10th and the 14th. Orange county is the 14th. SC used to use the third monday as the earliest date allowed for public school- which is the 21st. Did they recently change the law? (FL has a law that says August 10th is the earliest allowed date).

I'd guess you'll see the weekend a bit busy still, since you'll have the regular people plus locals squeezing in one last trip before school starts. And then moderate from Monday on as there are still a lot of districts that haven't started school yet in other states.

We go that same exact time every Aug and last year it was very manageable! Walk ons for Gringotts.
We stay in RPR because we love it though.

Reasonably busy until the 19th, then it slows a little.

We have EPs but staying on site, so wouldn't have paid extra for them.
