How is the A/C In Attractions Now?

We have been at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios over the last week or so, and air conditioning is pathetic, I also would agree it is nowhere near 90 degrees but definitely lower 80's or so, not the cool, refreshment that we used to have walking into a shop or ride. We talked with several CM's who obviously can't say anything but agreed with us when we mentioned budget cutting due to the shanghai issue. Its really frustrating.

We noticed the same thing on our trip this year. This was our 16th trip and the first time we noticed that the A/C was lacking. Some of the queues were unbearably hot-TSMM, Dinosaur, POC, Spaceship Earth and Peter Pan particularly. Also many of the shops. We were there for 12 days Feb/March and it was fairly mild the whole time. I can't imagine how bad it could get if they continue this all summer when it is truly hot. They have definitely turned up the temps on their thermostats park wide- including the resorts. Not to mention the new ones installed in the BC rooms that are highly inaccurate and are clearly for show. I had to complain to the concierge and maintenance to have the temp in the room turned down for our length of stay. I think that paying almost $900 a night for our room should allow us to have the temps as cold as we want it!!!

The ones I've seen were like PP, the 16 oz cups. Or what ever size is considered the regular cup, it's not the small kids cup but there are larger cups too

Even if it's the small ones, you can get all you want and dump them in your water bottle

When we were there, it depended on the place. Some gave kids cups, some regular cups.

I was there 2 weeks ago and we thought the AC was inadequate in most stores and attractions. Near 90 degrees.
Same here, there 12th to the 17th, and couldn't believe how warm it was in many attractions and stores. Some of the outside covered lines (splash, I think, maybe Pirates?) that had ceiling fans, the fans were not even turned on.

When we went last, in June of 2008, it was so hot! I would step into a shop and go "Ahhhh" and get a little cooler, but then a minute or two later, be dying of heat stroke again (not literally). On the same trip, I remember freezing in the Liberty Tree Tavern and have a picture of my sis with her rain poncho wrapped around her because she was so cold! But I'm always hot. I'm going to get one of those frog togs or whatever they're called for our trip in July.

We were there may 12-18 and the AC was completely fine. I don't know where people were going but it was certainly not 80 degrees inside any attraction we went on. The only place I noticed being warmer than I remembered was Via Napoli, because I wasn't shivering by the time our meal was done.

There were a couple bathrooms I recall that didn't seem to have any AC at all. Can't remember where they were but it was extremely uncomfortably hot in a couple.

I was there last week and we actually would get cold in some of the attractions, because of the sweat of course. I found it very comfortable in most. There may be one or two that were not as cool as other but we enjoyed going inside to get out of the heat

If any of you are there now how is the a/c in the attractions? Last time we were there in May and the air conditioning could barely be felt
The A/C is different in each structure. Some work just fine, others seem to struggle.

In late April, the temps were in the high 80s to low 90s, but the stifling summer heat and humidity hadn't set it yet. The AC level seemed comfortable to us and it was refreshing to go inside. Our last two trips, last month and last August, it hasn't seemed as freezing cold in some areas as it had on previous trips, but we never felt uncomfortably warm in an air conditioned area either. It feels like they've kicked the thermostat up a couple of degrees, but it didn't bother us.

Here is one area where Universal absolutely beats WDW. At Universal (in my experience), it is uniformly and delightfully freezing in every queue and every shop - even, somehow, the ones that are open to the outside.

A couple years ago in August it was incredibly hot - a heat wave with the heat index well over 100. At Universal for the first three days we were able to manage pretty well, because of the frequent, freezing A/C. Once we moved over to WDW we had a harder time, and noticed that the A/C wasn't as reliable or as cold. You would step in a shop and feel relief, but not that crazy, wonderful chill that you would get at Universal.

The AC should be able to keep up with the heat if it is set low enough. It sounds like they are setting the temp higher. Is it to save money? I hope they get it adjusted correctly for July and Aug! People will be fainting left and right.

The complaint about the lack of year has been ongoing for years. Part of the problem is that the doors are always open and much of the air goes outside. You can only set it so low.

I grew up in Fl in without AC. when I was younger. I find the colder the AC the harder it is to get acclimated to the higher temps. If it was 75 indoors and you went out to the 90's you would only stay "cool" for a shorter time. Acclimate yourself before coming to Fl. Stay outside longer and hydrate long before you get here. I know it's not possible in the far north, but it really helps.

I didn't even know about the free water (albeit small - who cares - it's free) at the quick serve places. Good to know !!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. They don't *have* to give any water for free. It could just be you either bring a water bottle, use a water fountain or buy a bottle of water.

Went to EPCOT today a Cast Member brow was sweating that he had to wipe it off while we were getting ready to board. I would say its too warm. Universal DOES NOT have this problem, my husband should not be complaining about gift shops/bathrooms and queue lines being hot. Disney is being cheap and that's all it is.

I noticed last week that I was sweating in Spaceship Earth. Our shirts and shorts were sticking to those plastic seats when we exited the ride.

Never had that happen before in the many years we've been going to the parks.

I was at epcot and HS 2 weeks ago and the only ride/indoor area that was warm was spaceship earth.

So I was paying attention to this over the weekend going around AK (I know, not much a/c there) and epcot.. It's warmer but not everywhere. I could feel it running in the land for example but it wasn't really cooling the place down.. Now I did sit around for 30 minutes or so and it did help and soarin (the ride, not the line) was much colder.. Disney was having the doors opened on stores and I think OP is correct, disney is cutting back on the a/c when they can.. Of course humidity hasn't really hit yet so we'll see how that is handed...

It wasn't like this a few weeks ago..

We've been here since Friday and lack of AC was very noticeable. Walked into World of Disney around 3pm yesterday and thought the A/C was broken it was that warm.

I remember when we planned our August trip, 6 years ago. We figured it would be okay, because we could do a lot of indoor stuff to get out of the heat. The only place that felt truly cool to me was our hotel room (which was adjusted by us) and the resort indoor areas. Everything else (TO ME) seemed way too hot and uncomfortable. But it was a brutal week for heat, so might have just been that I was suffering from heat stroke all week. LOL!!!!

I haven't read the whole thread...

But I agree, there is a difference between Universal and WDW on A/C in the parks. I've done both a few summers in a row now and it is extremely noticeable.

I found a document about lowering the use of A/C at WDW for "green" reasons, I'll have to try to find that again. I'm not sure green is the environment or money but it's very obvious to me that they are optimizing the cool air.

And don't get me started on the A/C motion sensors in the hotel rooms but those are everywhere now unfortunately...
