How is Teppan Edo?

My DH requested this restaurant as he is a big fan of the Benihana type places.

It's one of the few TS in the World Showcase we haven't eaten at yet, nor do I read many reviews of it here on the DIS. I will say that it was easy to get an ADR for them for dinner, and our trip is less than 3 months away. It made me a little nervous, as all my other ADR's were a little bit of a struggle to get this late in the game.

Anyone have any thoughts? :)

I answer this question all the time. They have redone the restaurant and it looks quite nice. I think the service is very good, the food is excellent, fresh and cooked in front of you.. you may be sitting with other families depending on the size of your party, which is usually cool. The chef puts on a little show.. we love it and go each time we are in Disney.

DH and I went on our honeymoon this past December and we could not stop talking about how good the food was and how fun the atmosphere is. I would defintely recommend it, there is a link to my TR in my signature and I have a review of Teppan Edo in there on page 5 post 57. I really hope you go there, DH and I going again when we are there in September.:cool1:

I went in March and it was wonderful! We will be there again next week, can't wait!

:thumbsup2 Two Thumbs Up here. :thumbsup2
Its a great restaurant if you like Teppanyaki Japanese Food.

Be Brave! Eat with Chop Sticks! :rotfl:
My son (DS15) and I love eating with chop sticks there, since most Americans go straight for the fork. BTW We have no oriental blood in us at all, we just spent some time practicing. Its not bad once you get the hang of it.

Enjoy your food!!

I also give it 2 thumbs up!!! We ate there last week (1st time for me...years ago for my DH) and I was a bit nervous because I have never had Japanese food before. It was my favorite of the entire week!!! The service was great and the food was DELICIOUS!!!! My 2 yr old son also loved it and ate most of my noodles and half my chicken. I definitely want to go back!!! :goodvibes

We ate there last October after it had been refurbed. We had ate there the year before also. First experience was great, the second was simply average.

There were a few things that bothered me about the changes they made, especially if you are on the Dis. Dining Plan with kids. They eliminated a ton of items that kids could have before, like specialty fruit drinks. And the food wasn't that great.

When we go back in August we will NOT be returning mostly due to cost.

Hibachi -style Japanese places have been poping up all around where we live. I know of 4 within 5-10 mins of our house. In the past we had to drive 15-20 mins for the nearest one, and it was only one. We love the food, but we find each place to taste very similar. I did not eat at the new Teppan Edo yet, but have been to Teppanyaki several times. I made an ADR as this was DHs only request. All four of our boys really love the food, and I know it would be a night where they'd eat well, and fairly healthily. BUT, I recently talked DH into cancelling the ADR. I reviewed the prices and really can't bring myself to pay so much for the same food we eat all the time at home. Their prices are so much higher than all the places around here, and we'd have to pay extra for the soups and salads, and all 6 of us love to have that too with the meal, though, the little ones probably could split some of it. I'd rather pay the same cost to eat something different. We're now eating at Coral Reef that night. I promised the kids we'd go to Japanese at home before we go to WDW. That being said, if you don't go too often at home, I'm sure you'd really love the food, and the experience. The chefs are so fun to watch.

We did this in December as an unplanned last minute walk up. The people there were so nice and easily accomodated us! (It was around 8pm) Actually, they went out of their way because when I originally got there, it was a party of two, and about 20 minutes later, I changed it to a party of four, again, no problem!

It was a very fun place to eat. The food was fantastic! It was nice to eat food that was not heavy. We knew what we were eating. It was prepared in front of us. It was prepared with flare! And it was very good! Even my dad and son, who are both PICKY eaters loved it.

Make sure your try the edamame. This is wonderful and now I have an edamame addiction! :goodvibes

I agree with Mackey Mouse.

Great to here all of the positive reviews cause we will be there in a week or so.:cool1: :hippie: :yay: :flower3:

I kind of factor in the idea of it being entertainment as well as a delicious, well cooked meal when I look at the price. It's just so fun. We have a Beni Hana here in Seattle, but we don't really go. On vacation, that combo of flair and food appeals more than usual. :)

I haven't been since it remodeled, but as someone mentioned, teppenyaki style cooking tends to taste largely the same, so I am confident we will get the same delicious meal we have come to expect!

very very good meal.
the decor is wonderful. The mood is very relaxing. We ate there in January and we were seated with another family. We had a nice time visiting. I think the tables seat 8 people. There are several tables in each room and it was fun to watch the other chefs while we waited or were eating our dinner.
The menu is a little limited. The vegetables prepared with the meal include: zuchini, onion, & mushrooms. The sauces were delicious.
Our chef was very accomodating and we enjoyed her stories of moving to Florida from Japan.
It is one of my daughter's favorite restaurants and we will be eating her birthday lunch there in October.

We went with a party of 6 and had a great time. We had a little wait to get in because we were early and its not a restaurant that has tables open up early because it is almost like a dinner and show. It was very busy in the waiting area but once seated it was very relaxing. The food was great and the entertainment of watching your food cooked was great. You don't feel stuffed because you eat slower as you watch your food being cooked. If you like sushi I think you should order it because it is very good. I think we will do it again.

We ate here in February 2008. There were 2 of us and we were seated with another party of 2 and a party of 4. All were lovely people and we had a great time. The food and service were great. This is at the top of our list for dining experiences!

We ate there for the first time this past Thursday night. I thought the food was wonderful and we really enjoyed the show the chef put on for us. My DH said it was his favorite meal of the week!

Is this appropriate for children? My husband and I want to go there. We have been to similar type places with our kids and they have enjoyed it. Kids ages 2, 5, 8.
