Just a quick question regarding September. Just thinking ahead of time and interested in peoples experiances in early september.

Weather
Crowds
Good Time / Bad Time

Crowd wise = good time, most of the schools are back by then
weather = still pretty hot, catching the end of the summer humidity so quite common for temps. still to be in the high 80s or low 90s.
Not as stifling as July though.

Good time to go, especially later in the month.

We love September! Towards the end of the month is better! You get the halloween party, weather is hot but not too humid. Crowds are low too!

we were there in early September 2 years ago and it was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
the parks were deserted, the restaurants were walk in ......we didn't have any reservations - though i wouldn't advise anyone doing that- but that trip we played everything by ear...did what we wanted when we wanted....

the weather was still hot and humid, but given the crowd size we didn't care at all....

Hoping to book something soon. Is September as a whole a great time to be going, as we are thinking of travelling early september, maybe as early as the 4-5th.

we have been twice in sept 04 06 ,our 1st trip in 04 no rain ,hot and no crowds,06 rained alot ,hot and little more crowds as the free ddp,we have just got back - no rain ,very hot ,loads of crowds.

if you go in sept wait till after the free ddp {unless you are staying in disney} and hopfully it should be quiet .

We have been 5 times in September, going back again in a little over 2 weeks.

Weather - As everyone has said it's still hot, you get the occasional mid afternoon shower (but it's not everyday) and it is humid. One thing you should know, September is the peak of the Hurricane season in Florida.

Crowds - Quiet, 10-20 mins queue times for most things, the major attractions are generally up to an hour (it was quieter a few years ago but tourism is definately increasing). The first Monday in September is a US holiday (Labor Day) and can be a little busier, also there is Night of Joy at the Magic Kingdom the following weekend which can affect crowd levels. The other thing to bare in mind is the free dining which usually occurs in September, this fills all the table service restaurants making walk up's just about impossible to get.

Good Time / Bad Time - I would say it's a good time to go, the days are not too long (generally all the parks have closed by 9pm) it's quiet and the weather is nice. If you want to eat in the table service restaurants Advance Dining Reservations are essential.

Don't know where you are Shane but we've booked for 29th sept from manchester. One of the flights I as watching was the Mytravel one from Man on 4th Oct and it was down to £204 last week. Risen back to £291 now with hotel (3* Quality Inn Plaza), but they've been going up and down.
That hotel's not one I would stay in but it works out cheaper than flight only from Mytravel on that day.

Tough one!

Magic Kingdom - Personally I would say you need a full day to cover a reasonable quantity of it's many attractions.

Epcot - If you are just doing the main rides & shows you can probably fit it into half a day, if you want to fully explore all it has to offer you will need two days.

Disney MGM (Hollywood) Studios - You can do all the attractions in a day, if you skip some then this can be a half day park.

Animal Kingdom - Main shows and rides can be done in half a day, exploring the walks and doing everything will tak a full day.

Important things if you really do want to do half days, get there early, use fastpass and plan.

Do you have children in tow?

DH and I went the same two weeks in 2001 BC (before children) as we did this year with a 19mo and a 4yo in tow.
Back in 2001 we did 2 parks a day and the was quite a quiet time of year (early May). I must admit I think we walked in to Fantasyland in the MK back then and walked straight back out again, it just wasn't our thing.

I would say a thrill ride loving couple eating mainly CS food would have a chance of doing 2 parks a day if you use FP and arrive early as suggested above.

Yes it is, however the only way you can do this is get to your 1st chosen park early and have say 3 hours there before taking a break.
Return to your second park late afternoon or early evening.

It could well be you will need to get fastpass for some rides on your 2nd session, guess it depends which rides you will be going on.

You doing Universal as well? Big advantage here is parks are walking distance apart so you can do both parks easier than the Disney one's.

2 parks in one day is tough when it's hot and humid....even when it's not hot and humid...
it really depends on what you have in mind - just a few highlights in each park or really enjoying just 'being there'...

we like to take it easy when we visit - we gave up commando style visits years ago....it diminishes our enjoyment...

We've been quite a few times in Sept and never made reservations. Never had any trouble walking into restaurants.
