We have never stayed at the Polynesian before. We just went ahead and booked the garden view. We don't really plan on spending too much time in the room so didn't really think it was that important. I would like to hear from someone that has stayed in a garden view room. Please tell me I will still enjoy it.

We stayed at the Polynesian Garden View last august and are returning to Garden View Concierge in just a few weeks. The view is of the other buildings, or pool. Very peaceful setting and wonderful. Best part is if you want a view of the lagoon (very nice during the MK Fireworks) the beach is just a short walk. You will love it ! :earsboy:

I only request a garden view because that is all we can afford. I dont expect to be upgraded either and have never asked. We have stayed in Niue (smoking), only picked this when it used to be non smoking as it was the closest to the gch, stayed in aeorotora, our view there was of the monorail and parking lot. I didnt request this, it was the only thing available. Last time we had samoa, we had room 1602, ground floor pool view, this was considered a garden view. I have never stayed in tokelau, but see other posters like it alot. It depends what you want. We wanted samoa to be close to the pool , as one of our ds has asthma and I wanted him to be able to get back to the room asap, if he needed to be hooked up to the machine , and its a hop, skip and jump to captain cooks for snack and mug runs. You can look at tikimans site for some great info.

I think you'll like it. We had a garden view room in the Hawaii building last month and we really enjoyed it. It was quiet and peaceful and has some nice scenery. Hope you have a great vacation.

My family has stayed at the Polynesian several times. We have had the opportunity to stay in many different room categories thoughout the years. I really don't think that there is a bad room in the entire resort. Lagoon view is obviously luxurious and romantic, but Garden view rooms are really nice as well. The landscaping and scenery at the Poly is absolutely beautiful no matter where you are. Garden view rooms are nice too if you get a room near one of the pools, some rooms you can even watch your kids from your patio!

One little tidbit...garden view rooms can also be "parking lot" and/or "monorail track" view rooms. Even these, though, aren't bad at all. We've gotten those a few times and they were still nice.

There are actually quite a few "garden view" rooms at the Poly that overlook the marina and pool areas that would be considered water view rooms at other resorts. You might want to take a look at the marina side of the Fiji building, it looks fantastic. It's very close to the GCH and you have a great view of the backside of the volcano pool across the marina and a partial view of the Contemporary Hotel across the lagoon. Not bad for a "garden view." ;) I think the Polynesian is the most beautifully landscaped resort by far, so just about any building you stay in should have a great view...even a monorail view if you want it.

We had a garden view room in Fiji in Dec 2002 & we loved it! :) We were on the 3rd floor facing the marina & the volcano pool. We got a lot of rain that month, but we were close enough to the main building that we never got too wet when getting mug refills. We loved our view & the room location was perfect. From our balcony we could also see the Contemporary Resort. I don't think you can go wrong with Fiji for a garden view room. HTH! :)

We had a garden view last year. We'd asked to be "near the feature pool" and were put in Somoa, first floor. Hey, slip out the slider, take a few steps and we were at the pool. It was beatiful view.

we stayed in a gv room on june 4 & 5th of this year. it was in aeorotora, second floor, room 2211. this room had a 'monorail' view which i didn't really mind, but it had no balcony.

if we had been staying more than 2 nights i would have asked to be moved. (i did ask at check in but there were none available) i wouldn't want to stay the entire week with no balcony.

i did like the longhouse location though, very short walk to the gch.

We just stayed garden view at the poly from 6/21-6/28. I am so particular that I walked around the entire property when we arrived to pick out a room. Samoa wasn't an option because it was full. I personally wouldn't have chosen volcano pool side because the pool was quite noisy. I ended up picking a garden view room in the Figi building facing the beach (room #3307). I couldn't have been happier! It almost seemed that it should have been a lagoon view. The view was of the beach, the lake, the wedding pavilion, the grand floridian and some lush landscaping. Fiji is a short walk to the GCH. We could hear the luau music every night which didn't bother us too much. I probably would choose this location again. Have a great time at this beautiful resort.

Has anyone ever stayed on the first floor rooms?

I love having the first floor so you don't have to do elevators or stairs. Then again, we might not have that good of a view when your on the first floor.

How did anyone like their view and did you have like a little patio? Do the higher floors have balconies?

etwinchester-- both times I have stayed at the Poly in a GV room it was on the first floor--the ground rooms have a tiled patio (where ducks often come to visit!) On my first trip to the Poly, our room view was wonderful--I was in room # (I think) 1915 and it was a great view! I could see the TTC boat, Tahiti longhouse, lagoon, and CR...if I walked several steps out, I could see the MK castle (and fireworks) and GF...the room this past trip wasn't as amazing b/c it directly faced the refurbishment of the quiet pool, so the view consisted of a wall and walkways. However, even then, if you stepped out you could see the beach. While I generally prefer higher level rooms, the patio rooms are nice as well.

mariamouse :D

You will really enjoy it! We stayed in a GV both times we stayed there and loved it. We were on the first floor and had a patio. We were near the quiet pool too and didn't have to take stairs or an elevator each time we went to the room.

We've always had a ground floor room at the Polynesian and we've loved each one.

All third floor rooms have balconies. In the newer buildings, second floor rooms do, too.

i'm getting so excited, every thread on the Polynesian, I open, its our first time here - - and everything I've read, the negative things I've read were so minor!! I've just read very little negative - I find that amazing - I CANT WAIT!! I requested Tokelau (sp?) dont ask me why, but I spent time on the tikiman site, and it just look so mid range I thought I might have a good chance of getting a 3rd floor request, but if not, as long as its not a smoking room, I know I'll LOVE IT!!

If you have any spare time away from the parks, take a stroll over to Luau Cove...the walkway, views and gardens are great. You will feel like you're really in Hawaii...and there's piped-in Hawaiian music and the torches are lit even during the day for added effect. Very cool.
