How is making FPs fair? Or am I missing something?

Oh well. Bottom line, my kids are adults and we used to take them there every year starting in 1992 and it was just so easy back then. Fast forward almost 30 years, and I now do many solo trips and just do what I want to do (but I now love FOP)....anyway, I can't even imagine how difficult it is for young families with little kids trying to navigate a WDW vacation at this time. It's so crowded and I honestly don't know how they get it all in. On a good note, the Disney hotels are amazing and I"m sure most really young kids are happy just playing in the pool!

Agree with those that said it isn't supposed to be fair.

The best you can do is understand the system and exploit it to your benefit. Usually this means planning longer trips and doing FOP, SDD and SDMT near the end of the trip. However, in my experience, if you are diligent and keep checking usually you should be able to get some FPs for those rides as people cancel their trips or change their plans.

I honestly think we would be better off going back to paper FP tickets or better yet eliminating it all together. All it does is drive up standby wait times.

This sums it up. The longer you stay the better chance you have to get the hard to get FPs. Don't forget that with CL you can pay your way into a 90 day window instead of a 60 day window. WDW is a better experience for those that can afford to make it one.
As is true for virtually every form of paid entertainment. I don’t like it, since I’m not usually one of the ones who can spend to be VIP, but its pretty much true across the board.

ME too, we pay a lot of money to stay on site and 60day FP+ is no longer something you get only when you stay on site.

I was peeved too, until I thought "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em". The second they started charging resort parking fees last year and jacking up value prices at same time, I immediately canceled all 2018 WDW onsite ressies and have been staying at affiliated disney springs hotels ever since. I had been a loyal 20-year+ WDW onsite guest until last year. Now I get all the benefits without the ridiculous cost.

My beef is the addition of the Good Neighbour hotels being added to the 60 day FP prebooking window.

Really? This must be new. I know they added the 7 Disney Springs area resorts to the 60 day FP window. But, I had not heard they added the Good Neighbor hotels too. These are 2 different things.
