I basically had to pull teeth to get things..and some days we have to eat at the same restaurant twice but I couldn't risk not booking. My daughter is going to be heartbroken that the BBB is basically booked all week too only times are 7 at night on MNSSHP days.. :( I never had this issue before- disappointed.

Well apparently I got a bad CS the new lady actually found me times on thing! Sad the liberty tree is closed when we go :/

Its going to be ok. It is way too early to stress over this. Reservations will open up. Keep checking. I know it can be stressful. They will even open up when you are there.

I make réservations 60 days in advance and i had all i wanted exept for Ohana. My sister and me plan our trip in short Time. 60 days in advance lol! We Go may 3!

Don't despair! Just keep checking. I was able to get BOG for mid June for both breakfast and lunch this past week (debate on in my family which meal they want to eat there) just by occasionally checking in and seeing what was available. I bet you find things open up the closer you get to your trip. Fingers crossed for you!

I find that I can find what I want, at the desired times I want after the 180 day mark anymore. With people always cancelling and switching things around, things open up more as the months go by.

I'm in the same boat, trying to book restaurants at 178 days (turns out I messed up on my countback!) and even ones that I would never struggle to get a reservation in the past, even at 30 days out, are now coming up with either no availability, or only available at really strange times of day. Just guessing that I'll have to try again in a week's time, then keep on doing that every week until something opens up.

Just keep trying! We had several "glitches" this week on our 180 day when I tried to book online. I had a lengthy wait on the phone and had a few times that were much later than I really wanted. Over the next few days I just kept checking and got what I wanted which included Tusker at 805 so we could enter the park early. I saw the Tusker times available online, but the website was still giving me problems and I was able to get the times with calling. In the past I have booked last minute trips due to DH job and was able to get almost everything I wanted closer to my trip.

I discovered today that if you just search by "breakfast" you get one, rather late, time. Then, if I searched by a specific hour, say 8am, a whole bunch of places show up with different times than when I searched using "breakfast". Seems like when the adr site was down it was tweaked a bit. I no longer see multiple time options like I used to, only one option. Guess I'll need to search by a particular time, rather than by mealtime, to get closer to the times I want.

You all are scaring me! I can book ours in the morning. I was hoping October would be better than September...

WDW first timer (DLR Vet) here planning a trip in October and I just realized I actually need to start making Restaurant reservations soon... I am just starting to look at and decide which hotel and stuff right now and I haven't even tackled how we are going to spend our days so I doubt I'll have any kind of gameplan put together by the 10th (when I can start making reservations).

How crucial is it to get your reservations in day one? Am I going to be screwed for places to eat come October if I dont get in on the 10th? Or do only the most popular places book up?

I have to admit this is putting me off a bit... I generally like to wing things and when we go to DLR we generally are able to walk right into the restaurants we want to eat it with a few exceptions

5 years ago, if it was just two people, you generally could walk up to any restaurant and get a table. Now, it seems like if you don't have an ADR, then quick service meals are your only option. Now, that being said, it seems that there is some flexibility with being able to change things on a whim dependent on who you talk to. I've read some trip reports where people with parties of 4 or more, were able to sign into MDE and change a dining reservation on the fly (but I can't remember what month they were traveling in). October used to be a great, low crowd month, but with the rise in popularity of F&W, the crowd calendars seem to show levels of 5 and 6's (out of 10's) for the entire month.
There are a lot of great quick service restaurants if you want to try and wing it though. Best of luck!

I booked today. You should mostly be fine. Put in a time rather than just breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and it works better. When I put in times, pretty much everything was available within 30 minutes of the time I was considering. The only one I had any issues with was BOG dinner-if that is on your list you may have trouble with that one. It was not available for most days of our trip. I picked up a very early dinner ADR there near the end of our trip- but that was all there was. October is worse than September. It is more crowded than September with kids having fall break (but still very manageable), and because of free dining everyone initially books up the restaurants in hopes that free dining offers will come out for their dates.

We go to both WDW and DLR- we love that at DLR we can walk into places we want to eat, or make reservations a couple of hours before and find availability most places--- unfortunately, that is not the case at WDW. (I think it is probably because DLR has a significant amount of local traffic that does not put as much importance in a sit down meal while they are there). Plus, in October, WDW often has a free dining period- that is a special offer where you basically pay full price for your room, but then you get a dining plan for free. Free Dining causes the restaurants to be packed, and people book them up even before the offer actually comes out, just hoping it will.

The places that book up first are Be Our Guest (can be difficult to get even on the 180th day), character meals, and a couple of other places. Most other places you would not be too bad off if you did not book them right on the 180th day-- but things do start booking up- and the closer you get to the trip, the less of a chance you will be able to get an ADR for the places and times you want. Earlier is definitely better. I wouldn't expect to get online 60 days before the trip (the 1st day you could book at DLR) and expect to get what I wanted at the times I wanted- and probably no character meals at all by then. Don't expect to easily get walk ups to TS at WDW. It can happen, but I have seen a ton of people turned away from places- and I've seen people complaining that they have been turned away from multiple places. It is nothing like DLR where usually you get in, and occasionally you get turned away. It is pretty much the opposite- especially during free dining periods. I think you should go ahead and start booking things - you can always cancel them and move them around. It would be a shame if you did not get to try the places you really want to try on your first trip to WDW. If you don't have a resort reservation where you can book your plus 10, I would say just try to get a game plan of which parks on which days and get online every day starting the 10th and book something in that park for that day. Allears.net has a great listing of all the restaurants and menus if you are not sure where you might want to eat. Even though we have been to WDW quite a bit, I still use it every time.

Once the free dining offer comes out, if it does, everything will get booked up VERY quickly. It would be best if you had tentative plans in place early.

Hang in there- I know coming from DLR the planning required for WDW can be overwhelming- especially since they have thrown FP+ in the mix (which I won't turn this into a threat about, but suffice it to say I have had 2 trips with it and I'm not a fan). WDW itself is great though. It does have things you won't find at DLR. EPCOT World Showcase is like nothing else! Have a great trip!

We are going mid October & im currently trying to narrow down our list-
And choosing days,times etc....
So, you guys are saying I shouldn't worry if I don't manage to book everything at my 180 date?

What about afternoon tea at grand floridian-I would say that's the most important adr?!

I was able to get everything but BOG. I am going to keep trying. I find it very hard to believe that it is truly booked. That is a huge place!

We have gone in September for the last ten years but last year was really crowded. I was hoping a change of date would help. I hope I don't regret it. I didn't even think about fall break.

Thanks you for your help thats very informative... I was hoping for the free dining and I've noticed in the past that it depends on which resort you stay in... we are leaning towards the Art of Animation or the Polynesian, would either of those hotels have different dining plans?

I just realized that since we've decided to come in a day early (arriving 10/3 at Movies, then to Boardwalk on 10/4), I was able to book ADRs today. Website won't let me even look for anything past 10/4, so I called. The phone automation told me I needed a resort reservation starting on or before 10/2 in order to book today...but all the date calculators say 4/6 is my 180+10 date. Any ideas?

Should I just book them one day at a time, as the only thing I'm worried about at all is BOG lunch?

Our dates are 10/3-10/8 at POP and early this morning I was able to book for the whole trip. Then I wanted to check on a couple different spots later in the day and couldn't look at anything past 10/3. I heard that several others were having the same issue. Good luck!

No luck...just called and the lady confirmed it won't happen (online OR phone) due to the split stay. I will check online at 5:00 CST tomorrow, and if it's not showing 10/4 +10 for my clickable dates, I'll just call. It's pretty fun to talk to them anyway, so it's all good!
