So here in NJ it is hot hot hot! I know a lot of people are dealing with this. I haven't even gone outdoors bc I don't want to feel it. It looks too hot to even go to the pool in my community. So I'm sitting here listening to my air conditioner chug along all day and dreading my electric bill :scared1: Did anyone do anything fun to beat the heat?

As for me, I've watched a few movies. One I never heard of, "The Other End of the Line", and it was actually a really cute and funny movie. Loved the Jersey insults lol. Watched "The Holiday", which I have seen a dozen times and love. Harry Potter part 6 for the millionth time as well. LOL lots of fun :)

I also uploaded tons of Disney pics to my Facebook - for once the uploader was being nice so I just kept adding. Added my last 2 trips and it just makes me more excited for my trip next month! I also added some Flip video stuff I took. At least I'm feeling like I accomplished something LOL :goodvibes

So how is everyone else handling the heat? I feel like if it's always going to be this hot in NJ I might as well move to Florida and have the parks to go to! :woohoo:

Stay cool everyone!!

I worked today and actually didn't really mind...it was downright cold in my office! It is HOT. I was actually thinking...oh my gosh, they have heat like this for like 3-4 months in Orlando! It's supposed to cool off here tomorrow, I don't think it does that until like November in Florida.

I had intentions of cleaning out my car after work, but that didn't happen, instead I took my nieces to the Disney Store in the nice air conditioned mall and am now multi-tasking, watching My Boys and working on plans for my November Disney vacation.

Hot and soupy here, air quality warnings because it's hard to breathe this stuff. I work outdoors, so no escape. Might as well live in Florida.

LOL I have always said I would never move to Florida bc I hate the heat. I was just in Disney 7/1-7/9 and the weather was quite comfortable and Jersey was in a heat wave! So if I have to be hot - I'd rather be hot and have the parks to go to! With joint problems after a bout with Lyme's Disease I don't know if I'll ever be able to ski again :sad1:- so I might be heading south at some point!

Oh - I LOVE My Boys and am so happy it's coming back! Can't wait to see what happens - it's been too long!! :thumbsup2

Have you crawled out for any lobster lately??? That is one thing I would do to help get through the heat - eat some lobster and crabs!! :thumbsup2

Hot {77} in the Pacific Northwest. Trust me, that is hot for us. I hate it. I am heading to Disneyland in two weeks and am dreading the heat. Will have to spend more time shopping. :woohoo:

Susan, we're on Week 3 of this disgusting Jerzy heat wave! It was cooler in WDW when I was there last week. Sure wish I was there now.

I've been house hunting, of all things, since I got back. It isn't fun in the heat, but I'm trying to push along. I'm looking forward to cooler weather in the fall.

I live in Orlando, but came back to visit my hometown of VA Beach this week. And now it's hotter here than it is in FL!!!!!!! To make it worse, my mom's A/C is acting up. And yes, that's where we're staying. :(

I was in Disney right before you and the weather was so comfortable!! Here it's awful! I go back to Disney in 3 weeks so I'm sure the heat won't bother me at all. Just need those storms to stay away!!

Wow house hunting in this heat? Yikes - hope it wasn't too bad. What area are you looking to buy in? I can't wait for fall weather - but am not looking forward to going back to work. We did a redistricting and I got moved to a new school. So I have 79 boxes and about 20 bags of stuff to unpack (after it was thrown together and packed up in 2 days - but that's another story ugh). Hope to make the next Jersey meet! Sorry I missed the last one!!

Oh no! That is my worst nightmare! Good luck.... sleep with an ice pack :)

Heat > slush. :santa:

That being said, the 85 plus temps have made my half marathon training really gross this week. I ran four miles last night, and it was 86 the whole time, after the sun had gone down.

We've been staying indoors, either at home or shopping/restaurants, and hydrating.

I give you a lot of credit for your dedication! I only walked once in the last week bc it's been way too hot. Even at 7:30 last night (when I usually walk) it was 90 and I just don't have it in me lol. The Manasquan Reservoir is close to me and a great place to walk but at 8 this morning it was 90 so I stayed in bed. I don't mind walking when it's freezing out - but not when it's hot! Going to have to join the gym after my next Disney trip!

I moved to Maine from South Jersey 22 years ago. We packed the un-airconditioned apartment during one of the hottest weeks ever.

I have made it a point not to visit New Jersey in the summer and kept that promise to myself until last year when Mom died in July. Hot!

Maine has had some heat spells, including evenings when it never cooled down and I complained that it was just like Jersey. But our heat does not equal the highs and duration of your heat waves.

My sympathy goes out to you. Hope you have a.c. at home, a pool to go to, theater and shopping mall with a.c.

lol - when we had the heat wave a month ago, I looked at the Orlando weather, and yes, it was cooler at Disney. Still wishing I were there, as there's a lot more pool access, or the chance to get soaked on Splash Mtn or Kali. =)

No pool here & my central air is on the fritz, so I've been sitting in front of a fan & drinking lots of cold water. I did end up treating myself to a pink lemonade Coolata from DD, which was yummy. Might have to brave the crowds at Mountain Creek if this lasts much longer.

I know I should not live in the past but in St. Louis Missouri on July 14, 1954 it hit the city highest recorded temperature at 117 F. Yes since I was around I am old. Yes we did not have air conditioning in our home only fans.
We stayed outside because it was cooler than inside the brick house. I guess my point is that living through that 95 isn't all that bad. I would rather the 95 than 10 below. But for all those that are having trouble coping I do feel sorry and I hope they get cool soon.

John

Dreaming of a little warmth.

Sitting on the couch with 3 dogs on my lap under a blanket, wearing merino thermals, polyprop and a fleece top, merino leggings, two pairs of socks and snow boots... its winter in the southern hemisphere... :rotfl2:

But on the bright side, 50 sleeps until Disney...

I moved from NJ to Florida two years ago. As hot as it gets here, I'm still not as miserable as I was the last summer I lived in NJ-and I work outside now! I don't know what it is, but NJ heat is simply unbearable.

Really? Florida has all of the humidity so I'm surprised to hear that.

hello fellow jersyites..glad i found you. have a question hoping someone can answer..we currently live in bergen county but are looking to move to burlington county for better schools, affordable homes etc. we have family that live in pennsauken but we re looking in the mt laurel area..we ve been visiting but was wondering if anyone here has the scoop on actually living there?? someone in that area told me its nice but boring..boring i can handle, gangs and day laborers on every corner i cant. and im not prejeduice, im actually hispanic but when you have a concentration of them living in a certain area the crime goes up...any feedback would be great, thnks.
