Hey everyone,
We've been going to disney the last two years for xmas and yes it is busy but its beautiful. However, this year was a bit more hectic and alittle hard to push my brother around in his wheelchair when frankly many people arent considerate when someone is in a wheelchair! So I was wondering if we went for New Years eve which is my moms birthday if it was better and more doable? How was epcot this past new years? Any help is appreciated

was at epcot this past nye with my mom in a wheelchair. early in the day it was ok. but about 1 hour before first set of fireworks, it was unbelievably crowded. and once they were over, oh my god. it was so awful trying to get out, no one cared, pushed in front of us, knocked her in the head with bags, etc. it was crazy! we still had fun, but it was very difficult moving. good luck!

I agree with the post above. During the day you will have room to walk and such, but lines for rides are horrific and the park was at full capacity by 11. You still could enjoy the countries though. Around 4pm we thought we were getting so lucky because the lines for all the rides had died...Then we figured out why.

Once that sun hit the horizion though, I felt like I'd be thrown into a HUGE crazy fraternity party where everyone around me was dancing to the different dj setups and seemed to be very intoxicated. :crowded: I was bumped, pushed, hit, stepped on so many times I was exhausted by the time I got back to the BWV at 8pm and I passed out. It must have taken me AT LEAST an hour to get from TT to the exit of EPCOT near the BC and BWV. I will NEVER go on New Years Eve again. That's just my two cents though, other people might have different opinions so be sure to hear others out. Hope this helped!!!

We arrived at Epcot last NYE late afternoon.
The place was packed, but nothing like MK on NYE (where we were the previous year).
We stayed around the Odyssey building and it was not bad, considering.

Not what I wanted to hear! We are planning on going. With my DM in a w/c.
Might have to rethink that. Would love to hear from more people!

I wasn't there last year, but was the 2 years before that. Both times at Epcot. We were happy we did not have DD with her wheelchair with us (the kids stayed home) because it would have been very difficult. You literally could not put your hands out in any direction without hitting someone. We ended up leaving Epcot both years in the early evening because it was uncomfortably crowded - you pretty much had to go where ever the crowd ahead of you was going because that was the only clear space.
Both years we were staying in the BW area and ended up going back there. They had a DJ out in the area right under the BW Inn balcony - very nice.

Mental note. Don't go on New Year's eve. Don't go on Xmas. Don't go on 4th of July.

And Epcot is supposed to be the park that will BEST handle crowds.

oh yeah, i forgot. they gave out free top hats and horns to blow for NYE. well, instead of giving the out at say 11pm, they gave them out around 6 or so. OH MY GOD :scared: it was crazy. not only were you smashed into people elbow to elbow bc of the unbelievable crowds :crowded: picture thousands of people (and mind you ADULTS) blowing those @#$@! horns soooo loud and constantly that i thought my head was going to explode :headache: many intoxicated people that should never be allowed to hold a horn/noisemaker in public, lol. also, the lines for every single food/drink stand had to be about 30+. i waited over 40 min at the french pastry shop just for a ham and cheese croissant and cream puff! the garbage cans were overflowing by 7pm. it was insane. and like i said above, getting out with my mom in the wheelchair was crazy! i am surprised i have ankles left from all the strollers, my dad's poor steering of my mom lol, etc. although it was great and i would prob go again at some point in my life, it was def crazy. i went to time square once and i think epcot was harder to navigate! :lmao:

We've been at WDW for 5 out of the last 6 NYEs so we're used to the crowds and have never found this to be a problem. 2004/2005 we were in Epcot and the crowds on NYE were unbelievable. We were in World Showcase for the early Illuminations and it was wall to wall people. CMs directed the throngs out of the Showcase BACKSTAGE! It really was a little frightening to be caught up in the mass of people trying to move. We may return another NYE but won't venture into the parks that night again!

I agree with the others.......EPCOT was a nightmare! There was loud Latin music at the American pavilion and very loud techno at Japan and incredible crowds! People had staked out spots by 6 PM to watch the Midnight fireworks. We took the monorail to MK and noticed the stroller rental line had about 200 people in it. The cars were backed up entering the EPCOT parking lot. Our friends who stayed at Coronado said their bus had to take a detour to EPCOT because of the traffic. We could only walk single file (7 of us) thru the crowds. I heard that MGM was a lot less crowded for NYE.

my brother went with his wife and 3 kids to mgm and said it was so nice! much more manageable, and they had a double stroller. they were able to get in to dinner with a not-so-bad wait. they also got the hats and horns, but didn't have the exploding heads by the time they got back. actually, mgm was their favorite park the whole xmas/nye week. my brother is not one for lines, lol! also, it was my mom's fave, felt it was the smoothest ride in her wheelchair, she loved the shows, lights, and not getting bonked in the head like the other parks. lol!
