How is DL/CA in August?

Would love to visit DL/CA someday. My Dh has never been to CA and I haven't been to the westcoast since I was a teen(one time only visit). We would have to go in the summer. Any thoughts about August crowds/weather?

August is the hottest month of the year here in S CA (upper 80s to 100s). This summer has been very crowded so far. I don't see the crowds dying down until after Labor Day.
