We're planning to go in September of 2007 but are unsure of what to expect. We usually choose to go early in the year, but if I want to stay where I REALLY want to stay, then it'll have to be later. No problem. It's just that I'm scared of hurrican season and stuff like that. How is September? Crowd wise and weather wise.

We went in Sept 05. Crowd-wise- not too bad. I think the longest line we waited in was about 30 minutes for the silly cars in Tomorrowland. Everything else was 15-20 minutes or you could do FP.

Weather wise- HOT HOT HOT and HUMID. I thought I was going to melt. Just be prepared for that. I think it only rained one night though; not bad on that front.

YES- I went in May this year (I was lucky to go twice in a year, I know!) and it was the most GORGEOUS weather. It might have been close to the same degree-wise, say 85 or so, but there was very little humidity in May. Perfect touring weather.

Hi meloneyb21!

We went at the end of Sept. this year (24-29) and it was great. We got lucky and did not have any hurricanes. It rained pretty good on one day, but that was for about 2-3 hours and it cleared up. Other than that it was pretty clear and kinda hot...High 80s with about the same humidity.

Crowds were pretty good. It seemed like it was moderatly crowded in the walkways, but we never really waited more than 15-20 mins to get on a ride.

Most of my trips have been in early December, and that is a great time to go (perfect weather and the holiday decorations), but September was a pleasant trip.
Hope you have a good one! :thumbsup2

P.S. I'm originally from Philly too! Bensalem actually.
GO EAGLES!

Very hot and rains about every day (not the entire day but there are stong showers off and on)

I agree. I went Sept 10-16th and the crowds weren't bad but the weather was definetly hot and rainy. Luckily I'm from Texas so I'm pretty use to really hot weather. If you go make sure to get trip cancellation insurance so that it will cover hurricanes if you back out.

Let me put it to you like this, I went in Sept of this year because of the free dining and it was so hot that if they offer free dining again this year I would probably rather pay for my food and go a little later in the year for cooler weather. So in essence you could say that I'm willing to spend an extra $500 NOT to go in September because of the heat. On the positive side, lines are SHORT, SHORT, SHORT! But even with all the indoor attractions Disney has, you still spend the majority of your time outdoors and you will sweat.

We were there this last Sep for the free dining. We were so amazed at how low the crowds were...never seen anything like it!

It was HOT, but here's what we did: we got to the parks at opening, stayed for lunch, then headed back to the resort to swim. The kids swam for at least 1-2 hours. It was HOT from about noon-4:30. We then went to a different resort in the evening. The evenings were just wonderful. Very warm and comfortable.

All year long, there were predictions that Fall 2006 was going to be a big hurricane season. Well, they were wrong! I know when I was planning our trip, many people on the DIS commented that they weren't going in Sept because of the predicted hurricanes (the free dining came out on 4/1/06). I'm so glad we went in Sept.

It rained our first day there. The rain started when we got into our resort room. It didn't stop until early the next morning. And it wasn't just a drizzle...it poured!! We went to MK anyway. We still had a blast! Unlike last December when it rained during our trip when we were wet AND cold.

We said Sept is now our favorite time to go.

HTH

Our first Sept trip this year. Crowds were lower than other times, but not as low as I expected, and on the weekend they were terrible. I think it would really depend on which week you choose. Hotel seemed full so I drove everywhere and did not do the buses. MNNSHP was sold out. We had fun, but it was more crowded than I had expected. I live in GA, but from the NE, and yes it can be very hot and humid. Humidity is probably the bigger problem. Much of it comes from rain, and it is hurricane season. And you may have love bugs :bitelip:

That said, I would personally have no problem returning in Sept BUT I have the chance to go several times a year. Had it been very rainy one day, I would have just enjoyed a restful day as I will be back in a few months and feel no pressure to do something. If I only went every so often, I don't know that I would choose such an unpredicatable time to go.

September is my ideal time to go, but with my daughter starting school, I can't. If you can go in September, you certainly should. :) I think you will love it.

Oh yeah...Thanks for reminding me HopperFan. There were TONS of Love Bugs at the end of Sept. this year. A minor annoyance. At times you could not sit on benches because of all the live and dead bugs on them. :thumbsup2

September is the ONLY time of the year we go now.........free dining, low crowds, etc. After years of going in June and July the crowds don't compare. We go labor day week and our daughter only misses 4 days of school but gets credit for 2 days since part is educational (Epcot / AK). We'll be back in Sept 2007.

Exactly the same for us!!!

BUT............those stupid love bugs almost made me INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!

This year was our first trip in Sept. It was hot. It rained one day we were there. It was horribly hot and humid before the rain but it got much cooler outside after (this was around noon). The luv bugs.....they were bad, and they took us by surprise. But, for free dining and low crowds we will deal with them again. We had a great trip. I would highly recommend September.

We went this year 9/23 - 9/30/06 during the free dining. The parks seemed busy but we never waited more than 10 minutes for any ride and most of them we walked right on. It only rained one day in the afternoon and it only lasted maybe 30 minutes. It was hot and humid but it wasn't as bad as I was thinking it would be (we are from Kansas and it is always hot and humid so I maybe more used to it than others) It is just DH and I so we were in the parks from opening till closing. Our next trip which isn't until 2011 will be in September again.

What week in May did you go???

We were there Memorial weekend this year and it was HORRIBLY hot. We also went at the end of Sept. 2005 for the free dining and while it was hot, to me it was more bearable. In May, we just wouldn't stand it some of the time!!!

We did WDW in Sept. for the first time this year.

The good: free dining, low crowds

The bad: the HEAT! It was hot and humid.

The ugly: Lovebugs were everywhere.

Between Night of Joy and MNSSHP (started on 9/15 last year), most weekends have hard ticket events at the MK.

We usually go in January, which we always considered a very slow time of year crowd-wise. We took a quick trip in September for the first time this year, and we were amazed at how low the crowds were. We never used a fast pass the entire trip, and the longest line we waited in was for Soarin' which was 10 minutes.

I hate the heat, and yes it was HOT, but not nearly as bad as I expected. In fact, I spent much of the time being cold because the air conditioning was on so high everywhere we went! Another plus is that we got to spend a lot of time at the pool and Typhoon Lagoon, which is usually too cold to do during our January trips.

We now have another favorite time to go, so I guess that means we'll have to go twice a year from now on! :teeth:

We got to go to the World twice this year once in the beginning of May and again the end of September. The weather for the May trip was beautiful, little to no humidity at all, warm but not brutally hot...the September trip...wow, major humidity and boy was it hot, but we had free dining..so it was worth all the sweating we did  !!! It was definately a little less crowded in September than it was in May, as all the kids are back to school..and there were no hurricanes this year, so we didn't have that threat either.

As you can see by my signature, I've been twice in May and we are planning to go again in September. So I guess it's safe to say I'm split between those two months!!! The only reason we are going in September again though, is that my DD wants to go to MNSSHP party next year, this years trip was a mommy/daddy only vacation :woohoo:
