We've been going in Sept for at least 20 years now & my advice is to think about the following & decide how it may or may not affect you.
1). Oppressive heat
2). Potential for days of pouring rain - if a tropical storm/hurricane is stirring in either the Atlantic or Gulf you can have days of rain... no, I'm not talking the typical 20 min thunderstorm
3). Lovebugs, harmless yes, but a pain in the tush nonetheless. This past Sept we ended up only night swimming because you couldn't sit poolside without them crawling all over you.
4). Increased crowds due to free dining (enough to make us change our our plans for 07)
5). Parks generally close in the 8-9pm range not counting EMH's so not open too late.
