To all those who have been at Disney during December, what did you think? The good, the bad, and the ugly, please! :cool1: I would like to go in December, possibly before school lets out so maybe the crowds would be smaller. Thanks!!

I cannot say anything bad about WDW in December.

Crowds are low, weather is great and the trimmings are spectacular.

2nd weekend in December is Cast Member discount. All cast members get a 20% additional discount at the WDW stores. It gets very busy at DTD at this time.

That is what we are looking for next time we go (nice weather, low crowds) we have been twice in June and to me it is too hot and crowded and i would love to see how disney dresses up for the season. I was thinking maybe the second week in december. :goodvibes

You just don't want to go between Christmas and New Years. From everything I've read it's the worst of the worst crowdwise

We are going in December too, the week before Christmas.

You should be fine. It's one of my favorite times to be at WDW.

Bring a light coat or jacket. Some nights can be chilly.

Except for the week between Christmas and New Year's (the most crowded period at WDW), December is a great time to head to WDW. Crowds are light, and decorations are amazing!

We love going in December. Yes, it does get chilly..take a coat, rent a locker.
We went the week before Christmas and got there when the park opened.
We had the place pretty much to ourselves. After lunch, somewhere around 2pm we were having an ice cream while sitting on a wall. I looked up and said, "Where did all these people come from?"
It got quite busy on Dec 22nd.

You will enjoy it..it is so beautiful that time of year.
Have a great time.

We went to WDW from Dec 11 to Dec 18 last year. We stayed at POFQ.
The decorations were great.
The crowds were light. It didn't start getting croweded until Friday Dec 18 when the Christmas crowd started coming in.
Some days it was downright cold. One morning it was in the 30s. At Epcot near the water it was freezing. It warmed up to the mid 50s in the afternoon though.
I'd suggest just in case bringing those cheap $1 magic stretch gloves. WDW sells plain generic black ones for $8 a pair. Cheapo black knit caps that the dollar store sells are also $8.

If after this October we go again we'll definately go back in mid Dec. It was wonderful. And we'll bring extra gloves (DS lost his the first day, the people who found them were probably grateful.. lol).

It's horrible. Stay away. Really. :rolleyes1

Seriously, if everyone realizes how great it is in December, they'll all go, and then it will be crowded!

I absolutely love going to WDW in December. The weather is perfect IMHO, the crowds are virtually non exsistant...

We are heading down this year 9/12-9/16 to celebrate my DD's 3rd birthday. I'm in the process of scheming on how to get down in December too...

I literally get teary when I think of the decorations... and the feel of the whole place.

Have a great time!

The whole month up until the week before Christmas is a great time to go. You get the benefit of the holiday happenings, without the craziness of the crowds. The decorations are something else, and MVMCP is a blast. Lots of fun! ::yes::

:cold: :cold: :cold: Don't tell anyone... it is great..We loved the decorations, the MVMCP, the characters in their holiday garb, the candlelight processional, the holiday parades, shows...,but talk COOOLD!!! We thought we were going to be a little cold, 30 degrees and highs in the 50 were more than we bargained for. I dressed my dd in 4-5 layers, camisole, t-shirt, tights, sweater and jacket. We bought those hand warmer things they sold in the stores at WDW, gloves, hats, drank our fair share of hot chocolate.. We are from the Aloha state and thought we were prepared but....!!!! I guess its all part of the festivities....We saw people in swim suits by the pool ONE day. We saw a few people in shorts ( asked where they were from...CANADA!!!!....) We froze our DA KINES off!!! :cold: :cold: But we LOVED it and are going back again...You'll recognise us..The kids loved the SANTAS ,and stories around the world, the kids got passports and at kidkot stops they wrote "Merry Christmas" in all languages. Dad and I did the Yuletide tour.AND LOVED SEEING THE RESORTS ALL DECKED OUT. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I also want TO MENTION TO CHECK THE KIDS SCHOOL SCHEDULES, THIS year Christmas Day is on Sunday , our school doesn't get out until Dec 23rd. Maybe that will cause most of the crowds to come later, who knows???? Our kids will be missing one week. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Mele Kalikimaka to all!

Looks like I'll be following you. I'm taking my son and D-I-L 9/17-9/24 and then will be taking my 72 y/o mother for her first ever trip to WDW 12/10-12/17. She won't do any of the rides, but wants to look around at all the decorations, explore World Showcase, and maybe see a few of the shows. I was there this past January and it was hot everyday until the last one when it suddenly got REALLY cold. I assume the weather in Dec will be about the same. Right?
