How is Cape May Cafe?

or go to one of very few places I like the food here in NYC!

Oooo, would Tony's in Time's Square happen to be one of them? We ate there for my 40th birthday and are still talking about it (several years later). YUM!!!

Back on topic - we've been at Cape May for both breakfast and dinner and didn't think either one of them were anything to write home about. Probably won't be going there again.

As well as the mid-West. ;)

How's breakfast there? We haven't tried it for years but are considering it for a future trip.

We love the breakfast there. We have eaten there four times now for the breakfast hour. Great selection and wonderful character interaction. The dinner was just okay to us. We will be returning to the breakfast but no plans to head back for dinner. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't great. I think it was just a let down after the breakfast. The atmosphere is so alive in the morning (without being over the top) and the selection and quality of food was all around better in the morning.

NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN!

We went there last trip. With ADRs we sat for over 45 minutes and then were only seated after my DH went up and complained. The buffet was just awful and really made us rethink the waiting 45 minutes. The service was o.k. but not one person apologized for the long wait - we found out that someone else had said they were us and taken our table. You gotta love the fact that people behind us were laughing about being us!

As someone said, the lines for the food were long and things weren't replenished at a fast pace. We had loved this on previous trips but will not be returning.

We're just back from WDW & had dinner @ Cape May Monday night - it was fantastic. We had 5:50pm reservations and actually got in there early - the restaurant wasn't even full. The food was great - we didn't have any trouble with the configeration of the buffet - seemed to flow pretty good, but they did have people stationed on the corners sort of pointing out the direction to go.

We live on the East Coast of Florida and DH fishes for relaxation, so we get alot of fresh seafood and thought the seafood at Cape May was just as good. Loved the Clam Chowder. Of course the desserts were a big hit with us, too.

When we left there were alot of people waiting to go in, but didn't look like there'd be any problems as there were alot of empty clean tables.

Give it a try - it's well worth it. The only restaurant so far at WDW that we won't go back to is San Angel Inn at Epcot. We gave it 2 tries and crossed it off our list!

I love seafood of all kinds.....this is no different. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, but it's perty tasty! My hub HATES seafood, but loves the clam chowder.:confused3 He also likes the rest of the buffet, esp. the desserts!:goodvibes

We just ate there twice in January. There was a wait of about 2 minutes to get in. Everything was hot(or cold if a salad:) and fresh. We enjoyed it very much! There is a wait when you are there during peak times . We have waited awhile at Christmas time. We have been dining there for years and I still enjoy the clams(although they are small) mussels, shrimp, great talapia, seafood salad, soups, boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes corn etc etc. Can't wait to return in Dec although Jan is a nicer and quieter time to be there

are the clams steamed or fried?

We are looking for restaurants we haven't tried and are thinking about the dinner buffet at the Cape May Cafe. Would appreciate any thoughts or reviews. Thanks a lot.

We liked it.

Our main complaint, though, was that MANY of the clams/mussells were empty shells. Maybe we just got a bad night. But we had to make two or three trips to get "enough" because there were so many empties.

But the food was pretty good. We enjoyed it. The oreo bon bons were AMAZINGLY good, but very rich so we couldn't eat many. The clam chowder was a standout. And I thought the ribs were pretty good (Boma's were better, though).

All in all, we'd go back. It's not a "must do" but it was certainly good enough that we'd return.
