We are looking for restaurants we haven't tried and are thinking about the dinner buffet at the Cape May Cafe. Would appreciate any thoughts or reviews. Thanks a lot.

You should try it for yourself because it seems to be one of the restaurants people are most divided on!

We wanted love it but we eaten there twice and have been disappointed twice. Excruciatingly long waits to get in - even with the very first seating time - and indifferent service. This could happen at any restaurant though. I don't think the seafood is very high quality. The other food was bland and boring. Desserts were delicious but less variety than other buffets.

If you decide to try it, I hope you love it.

Well we didnt like it due to the poor quality and selection of seafood. We are from the Eastern Shore and used to way better quality and selection on our seafood buffets. We probably wont return due to those reasons. We didnt have issues with service or seating though.

ITA - same if you are from the New England area.

We went for the breakfast buffet, so no real help for dinner. But we loved our experience there for breakfast!

We have been there twice. While we like the food, we do not like the lines for the buffet. The first time we went it wasnt bad. The second time you stood in line for almost 10 minutes before you got your food.

The buffet is a big square. then the desserts are at a different location. but you had to cut through the people in line for food to get your desserts. a major cluster. We didnt make reservations this time.

We did wait about 20 minutes for our table and we had reservations.

As well as the mid-West. ;)

How's breakfast there? We haven't tried it for years but are considering it for a future trip.

Breakfast at Cape May is our favorite! We have done many breakfast at the world and this one has the most food. It has a couple of unique things too. There is such a variety the pickiest eater will be happy.

The seafood doesn't compare to what we have here in Louisiana...was really disappointed. Although my grandson was "fascinated" with the clam shells an took delight in opening those.

There are a lot of areas in the country with an abundance of good, fresh seafood. I agree that if you are from one of those areas (we're Pacific Northwest people), you will be very disappointed in the seafood selection and the rest of the buffet is mediocre buffet food. I think breakfast is a better choice for this restaurant, at least there are characters!

We were disappointed, and it is now on our never return list!

We haven't been for dinner, but we stayed at BC for a week in the summer. On the second morning, we had ADRs for CMC. It was not crowded at all and the food was great! The server was very attentive. DD16 begged to go there again the next morning so we called and got an ADR for the next morning too!!! This time our server was from the same town we are from! We will definitely go there again!!

I'm from NYC, been to New England many times and love good quality seafood. So we decided to go with Ohana for dinner instead of Cape May Cafe, thinking we would be disappointed.

I would also never eat at an Italian restaurant at WDW! I'm sure they are fine, but being an Italian New Yorker, I would probably be disapoointed! I prefer to cook my own Italian food, or go to one of very few places I like the food here in NYC!

We've been to Cape May a number of times. My son is 6 and he LOVES the clams and mussels. My father in law thought the clam chowder was the best he had ever eaten.

I will concede that the configuration of the buffet is less than stellar. When you are trying to get to the clams, do you enter from the line by the soups or back by the deserts? The plates are by the deserts... very confusing!

Our service at Cape May has always been fabulous, so nothing but nice things to say about the staff!

I am originally from the Maine seacoast.

We really enjoy Cape May's dinner (and breakfast) buffet. It's not a seafood buffet per se, rather a buffet that features some shellfish.

Now that they've returned to offering plain steamed clams (instead of just those with the unpleasant seasoning) we are back to enjoying it. We like the mussels and shrimp too. The chowder is do-able. I hate salmon so can't comment on that, but once in awhile when they replace it with mahi mahi or tuna it's quite nice. The other items are always hot and fresh and they maintain the buffet in a clean and well serviced manner. Only once have we had a very bad experience there, and it was clear the management was having a very bad night.

It's not meant to be gourmet. :)

We've found it to be a great place to take a group of varied tastes. There is something there for everyone. So, we'll continue to go to Cape May! :thumbsup2

Marblehead, MA checking in here! We also are spoiled by having so much fresh seafood available at home. That said - Cape May is one of our favorite buffets!

We don't go for the seafood, per se. But the location is great when we plan on a day at HS and an evening at Epcot. The PRICE is what I like, compared to some of the prices at Epcot in the evening, I feel Cape May is a good deal. The variety here satisfies my family.

And if you haven't tried an Oreo Bon-bon, you life is just not complete. WAY WAY WAY better than the much-tooted Zebra Dome.

We'll be eating here in August!

I'm so glad to read these great reviews as we'll be trying Cape May for the first time in November for dinner. :goodvibes

I'm SO glad I saw this post! I'm from Georgetown,MA and we eat our seafood fresh off the boat! I have ADR's for dinner on July 4th(after a day a Discovery Cove).I wanted a place we could walk to from the Dolphin, and Cape May buffet seemed like a great choice---then,I started to read awful reviews about the food!
So,I'm thrilled to read this!! Thanks!

Hey there Georgetown!

We took two other families here once, and there were picky people among them. Everyone found something they loved.

I prefer to stay at a resort that looks like Florida, compared to the Beach Club (Cape Cod) or Wilderness Lodge (Maine), but I do love to eat at Beach Club!
