I have never been on Body Wars, my DS (almost 5) wants to ride it on our upcoming trip. How is the ride for kids? My DS is very into science things, he has a couple human body books at home, so I am not too worried about him being scared by what he sees. But I am worried if will make him sick. Any opinions?

My DS was almost 5 in Sept. and he is a huge Star Wars fan-we rode that ride 7 times and he got his picture done at Tatoine sp? Traders after we were done. He absolutely loved it! I'm sure he would have ridden more if time had permitted (and we weren't sick of it) ;) No one felt sick at all-have a great trip!

Does he get any other type of motion sickness? My nephew (he was 10 at the time) gets a bit ill on motion simulator rides... but decided to brave it to ride Star Tours & Body Wars. He liked Body Wars, but said it was the worse of the 2 for motion purposes. He liked them, though!

And I agree with him, I somehow always end up riding it, but on Body Wars I end up closing my eyes or looking down when your "pulsing through the blood system"... I think it's the movement it makes... kind of a front/back, side/side sloshing effect.

Perhaps you could start with Star Tours... then move on to Body Wars?

Please disregard my previous post-boy do I feel stupid! I only was paying attention to the wars part I guess. However, my DS also enjoyed Body Wars-so sorry.

Out of all the rides that people mention when discussing motion sickness problems, Body Wars seems to be mentioned most.

But does your son have any other motion symptoms?? Ever get car sick?? Can he handle coasters??

If he does well otherwise, he can probably handle it OK. But I know there is also a substantial group of folks who do very well on everything but simulators, especially this one.

I would say that if he wants to try it and isn't prone to this type of problem, let him !!! :D :D

My 5-year old daughter did not get motion sickness on Body Wars, and she loves roller coasters. But she still got scared on this ride, I think because she felt like we were really inside someone's body. I think she also did not like the jerking motion. She did get over it quickly but does not want to repeat this ride.

Have you ridden Kilimanjaro Safaris? This is going to be hard to believe, but the actual motion on StarTours and BodyWars is not much different from the rougher part of the safaris. It's your eyes that make it seem worse, because you don't have a fixed horizon to orient yourself from.

If you do decide to ride, tell him to look down at his lap or his feet for awhile if he gets queasy. The floor is moving on the same plane as the rest of your body, so focusing on it will help restore your sense of equilibrium. Closing your eyes might work, too; but lots of people find that makes them feel more anxious because they feel "blind."

Dh went on it in 1990 and has never been back again. He won't let the kids ride it either. He is pretty brave when it comes to rides.

The only time I've had any trouble with motionsickness was this last trip when a little boy was screaming so bad that the CM left the lights on. It made us sort of dizzy that day. I guess the lights being off helps your eyes adjust better or something.

My 3 yo loved it, but his mom who is prone to motion sickness was out of comision for an hour. During the ride the 3 yo kept telling his mom that she was supposed to open her eyes and look at the screen;) ;)

...and this is from a 37 year old man, who happens to love thrill rides(like coasters...the more extreme the better...cant wait to go back to cedarpoint and ride the newest coaster...420 feet straight up in the air!!!!!!0-120 mph in 4 seconds...major rush, total fun, absolute thrill)..anyway, back on topic:p

as you can see, i love thrill rides....absolutely love Star Tours...did Body Wars back on my honeymoon with my Wife...and almost lost my lunch on the dang thing....couldnt believe it!!!

So, I agree whole heartedly that this ride, for a sim, is the worst for motion sickness.

As long as your son doesnt seem bothered by motion, then I say go for it...take the advise others have posted about looking at the floor(i closed my eyes and I still felt :bounce: all green and bouncy...LOL

(To this day my kids think I'm just a :jester: about this ride...they think that since dad does these huge monstrosities of twisted steel that he can handle anything.....Body Wars will not take me again....not consious at least....and if my kids force me, I'll be the guy on it screaming and crying to get off..:earseek:

Hope you guys enjoy it though!!!!!!! :smooth:

My kids (7 & 8) did not like this ride. My DH didn't go for it either. We did, however, love Cranium Command. Maybe that would satisfy your little scientist!

It really bothered me. But I think that the back row doesn't move if motion sickness bothers one. I could be wrong but I think that is right. Someone else here might know.

My advice is to skip Body Wars! I enjoyed Star Tours but Body Wars ruined my trip. I was dizzy on every ride I went on after that. Even the days left on our trip, not just the rest of that day.

I avoid Body Wars at all costs. It makes me feel miserable. :(

You can request a "flight check" for Body Wars. My 3 y/o ds was afraid to ride (and maybe too small too? Can't remember!) But the CM put him and my mom on another Body Wars simulator that didn't move. You just get the show part of it.

I didn't know that they could do this, but the CM suggested it for my little guy.

Hope this helps!

:( Body wars can bounce you around more than star tours, but like star tours, if you sit in the front row and towards the center, it's not as bad, The further back you go, and the further away from the center of the seats, the more you get tossed around, So, front row, center.Ask the CM to let you and your little one sit there. ;)
