How is Artist Point?

Try not to laugh but we are staying there in June and I have 3 meals planned for there breakfast and dinner at Boma's and a dinner at Jiko's (Paying OOP for this one and I know its going to be pricey but oh well).

I would say at least 30% of the reason we chose to stay there is so we can dine at all the AKL restaurants easily lol

I’ve read such negative reviews of this place on popular blogs/vlogs but there seems to be a lot of love for it here! Anyone who loves this restaurant care to take a guess as to why the reviews are so mixed?

Ok that kids dessert looks so cool!! Is it white chocolate?! I always see it pictured with a cookie!

Yes, white chocolate! The fried dough ball things were on the kids menu too, but my daughter wanted both, so I ordered both. I didnt take photos of the adult desserts...Im sure whatever we have was wonderful too.

No idea why it would get a bad review. Ive been twice. Both times, Ive had an amazing meal and the staff is top notch. Although I love the atmosphere..nice, quiet, maybe its the darker decor, without fireworks out the window that people dont care for. It can not be the food or the waitstaff!

I do like Cali Grill food. Its a lot louder, a lot more popular and I dont feel you get the attention you do at AP at CG..

Cali Grill

We have been to Artist Point at least 15 times. We go every time we go to WDW. Love the salmon, the soup, the salad, the mussels, the steAk. Great wine list. And the berry cobbler is great too. We often just get two appetizers each and s bottle of wine. Always had good service. We always ask to sit in big room with the murals. My husband won’t sit anywhere else. It’s a favorite place. I’ve also thought the noise level was quite low compared to Cali Grill. Personally I don’t know where the bad reviews come from but everyone’s experiences and perceptions are different. I should say we are Tables in Wonderland card holders so the 20% discount on food and wine makes a big difference in the price.

We haven't been to AP in a few trips, mostly because we find the food to be a bit heavy, although still delicious, so we prioritize other restaurants over it (Jiko is by far my favorite on property). That said, I would choose it over California Grill any day. We really enjoyed the mushroom soup, salmon, and cobbler, we will be back in a couple weeks and I cannot wait to try the donuts.

We have never had a bad meal there. The Artisanal Cheeses were the best we have had at WDW.
I would still put Jiko and California Grill ahead of it, but we still go about every other year and enjoy it a lot.

To be honest the food was very good but it was another case of a non drinking party being totally ignored for the other tables who were drinking. Plus if I have to run down another waitress to get my bill there is going to be a serious reduction in tips.

Sorry to hear that you had that experience.

I've been there a couple of times solo and not drinking. Both times I had excellent service. I hadn't requested any particular seating area, but one time they seated me by a window where I got to watch the geyser.

Best signature on property, IMHO.
YES! ::yes:: I agree!

I disagree somewhat with the above posters with Jiko, Morimoto, California Grill and Yachtsman out there AP is a very poor cousin.
To each their own. I disagree, I dont think CG or Yachstman is better than AP. I think CG is not good at all for a signature actually. i've been there quite a few times since the refurbishment and honestly, each and every time i've had disappointing experiences with food (different dish ordered each time). And wow the noise level at CG is ridiculous. For a signature, it sure is loud. And im not one to normally complain about noise. I literally could not hear my table mate that well. Not good at all and needless to say, I wont be back.

AP however, oh my sweet lord, its my fave signature in Disney. The food has consistently been phenominal every time. So good. And the atmopshere is so beautiful and much quieter than CG! It really is amazing. I'll see if i can dig up some pics of my food. :)

Here are pics of the AP food.

The steak is out of this world and honestly the best i've ever had. Cooked to perfection.
FYI, no i've never been to Shula's. Im sure die hard fans will tell me the steaks there are better. But let me tell you, this is tough to beat! Soo good! :cloud9:

The cobbler dessert is amazing and my fave:

Cant remember what kind of dessert this is, my friend and I shared both desserts. It was really good! But I did like the cobbler better.

First? Background. DW and I are DVC owners homed at BRV. TIW members, and APs.

For 12 years, we have been going to AP, twice yearly.

Understanding the CURRENT state of AP is critical. Reviews from over 2 years ago really have no meaning. About 2 years ago, one of Disney's BEST SIG Restaurant turn-around Managers was given AP, to SAVE it.

Our last visit was 11-2017. We've tracked the progress of AP over the years. Yes, they hit a "dead spot" lasting about three years - about 2013 to 2016.
This was the infamous "DDP price/quality" trap that several SIGS have had to overcome.

AP overcame this brilliantly. They were, in fact, the SIG that started the "Basic DDP meal with add-on's" movement. All the result of brilliant Management, from a woman that holds a resume spanning V&A, Citrico's, Narcossees's. Respecting her privacy? I will not name her.

If you have NOT been to AP since 2016? Really - go back. Disregard what you think you know. AP was literally pulled out of the DDP grave site that so many SIGs fell into.

We are already booked for our 4-2018 vacation. Along with the Grill, Shula's, Il Mulino, Citrico's, and Narcoosse's. Artist Point is a very GOOD Signature :).

If you want to eat there, why not try it! Personally, I don’t/can’t eat salmon but we love AP’s Buffalo loin with a side of Brussel Sprouts, yum. 2 out of 3 times the meal was really good, 3rd time, not as good but sometimes the ingredients don’t cooperate. Take Cal Grill, some rave, my last dinner was a bit disappointing compared to previous times I’ve eaten there. Jiko, always a winner, going in June. Some rag on Citrico’s, I’ve been happy with the food and ambiance each time. Yachtsman is good but to me, lacks something and it’s always super loud, reminds me of a caf!
