Can anyone share their experience with AirTran? They have decent rates from Akron/Canton(only an about an hour away from us) to Orlando but I have never flown with them. It may be worth traveling an hour to get better rates because I am not having any luck with fares from Cleveland.:(

I replied to someone else earlier and the only thing I might add is that I guess AirTran isn't as well known up north as it is here in Atlanta because alot of the people here prefer AirTran because it is cheaper and more reliable. I have been on several AirTran flights that have had Delta passangers who had been bumped, delayed, or otherwise inconvenced and needless to say they were not happy Delta ticket holders!

We use AirTran about 8-10 times a year to fly out of Atlanta. They are good, reliable and cheap if you watch for their deals. We have family scattered throughout the SE and can usually get fares around $100 roundtrip (we travel to several cities in Fla during "off peak" times and sometimes peak times) and there are excellent deals from Atlanta to the NE as well although I personally don't get up to New York etc. very often anymore.

I flew AirTran on 9/14 on one of the 1st flights out of Hartsfield when they allowed airplanes back in the sky and they were nothing short of fabulous since we were all a bit nervous..........

It is pretty much no frills, I am not even sure they serve hard liquor (I know they serve beer and wine) and they don't do meals as far as I know but for the $$$$$ you cannot beat it!

And they pretty much stick to the schedule.......unlike Delta who cannot seem to ever get to and from places on time!

I am waiting very patiently for Airtran to release their flights for November since they are only airline, besides Southwest, to fly direct flights from BWI to MCO. I was a little skeptical since this is the company that bought out Value Jet. I spoke to several friends who are pilots and they said they recommend Airtran highly! They said they don't like the cattle call seating method that Southwest uses and they would fly Airtran anyday with their families. This is a pilot who flies for Continental. Just my two cents.

as someone who has also flown both Delta and AirTran to and from Atlanta, i agree with the above poster....

Delta has a lot of old 'JUNK' planes...every flight i was on was delayed for some type of repair.

AirTran is working on getting to a 100% brand new fleet...all 717's as they have accellerated their retirement of their old DC-9's and replacing them with the new planes. Last I heard over half their fleet was the new (2 yrs. or newer) 717's.

Thanks for the input. I dont like the way Southwest handles their seating arrangements either and its nice to know that Air Tran is getting good reviews since they have been the cheapest for us so far.

I just booked by Tickets for Sept with AirTran.

I have allways used Jetblue in the past. JetBlue has not released there Sept flights yet. Does AirTran have TV's?
