How I Survived 11 Days at WDW with a Disney-Resistant Husband **2/20 THE END **

Your son's birthday party was beautiful. You're very talented--I expected Martha Stewart to pop out from behind a tree!

Looking forward to more of your TR.

I LOVE the birthday party!!

We usually only do a half of day in AK because of the heat. And YES I love Flametree BBQ. It is my favorite CS!! :)

Wow, what a great Pirate Party! I can't believe you threw all of that together at the last minute. You are an amazing mom!

Glad Declan was able to ride EE after all.

Trish, I agree, that party looks fabulous! Michael had a pirate birthday for his 7th birthday, 2 years ago, and it was a lot of fun! We had walking the plank (2x4 over a blue tarp), pass the parrot (hot potato), tug of war, a couple other things I can't remember now, and of course, a treasure hunt! It was no where near as nice looking as yours though! That theme is so much fun - so many cool ideas and kids seem to love it!! :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about the height checker thing - I've had to do a doubletake before to make sure one of mine was tall enough and then realized Doh - there's a shorter line!! Glad he was able to get a ride on Everest!!

I have never had Flame Tree - it's on my list for sure!! :goodvibes

You are too funny about your 15 minutes!! I think you are being too hard on yourself!!

Sara

Wow! You throw such creative, wonderfully-themed birthday parties! Your kids are lucky to have you :)

Another fabulous party Trish, my kids are done with the themed birthday parties, but even when they had them they were no where near as inventive as yours!

I'm so glad that Declan got to ride EE, and that both kids loved it, it's such a fun ride!

Those ostrich eggs have been there forever, I'm quite sure they are fake :thumbsup2

What a fantastic party! You, my dear, are one talented lady! I have no imagination at all, I always enlisted the help of one of my girlfriends who is a party planner, she used to save the day for me!

Great pictures from AK....I know exactly what you mean with the measurement thingy (is that a word) we almost made the same mistake last summer with my niece...it was her 10year old sister that pointed out we were wrong:rolleyes1 So happy he got to ride it in the end:cool1:

Great update.
I want to try Flame Tree in August. The food looks good.
Can't wait to read more about the BC!

I'm finally all caught up!

Wow, what a fantastic birthday party you threw! I would totally be having a blast there myself! Also, you have some gorgeous property. Love the views.

Yay for the whole family getting on EE! I'm glad that Declan got a chance to meet the Yeti, too. :thumbsup2

Great update! :goodvibes So happy Declan was able to ride Everest. I know exactly what you meant with the height indicators. That is great that Katie and Declan loved the ride. My two not so much ;). We love lunch at Flame Tree Barb B Q too, well except those annoying birds. Great pics from the Safari. The ostrich eggs are unfortunately not real  am I supposed to admit that. The CM on Grand Gathering safari told us.

Wow! You really rocked that birthday party out! I am so impressed by the creative activities that you came up with, and the decorations looked amazing, great job:thumbsup2

lovely update :thumbsup2

Ooh I've never seen/heard about the Fab 5 on a boat in Animal Kingdom! must keep my eye out for that next trip!

So glad DS got to ride Everest too! :cloud9:
I read somewhere that those bells in the queue play a disney tune if you ring them all in succession... but I've never been brave enough to ring each one in turn!

So glad BOTH of your kids got to ride EE!!! :thumbsup2

DH and I love Flame Tree BBQ too.......it's on our list of to-dos this summer! :goodvibes

YAY for Declan getting to ride EE!!! That was a first for us all this past trip and we LOVED it!! We ate at Flame Tree BBQ as well and really enjoyed the food!!

:) Loving the trip report. I have to admit, I had the Cobb salad once at Brown Derby...yep...once. It was a texture thing with me....like someone had already chewed it for me. We love the crab cakes, though. You do a great job with the children's parties. My mother always had special parties for my brother and I. Usually the favors were as good as the gifts. They are some of my best memories. Can't wait to read more so I am subbing. :thumbsup2

Thanks for subbing and Welcome!:welcome:

Glad I am not the only one who didn't enjoy the Cobb Salad at BD. I will definitely have to try the crab cake next time!;)

What a sequence of mis-haps and highlights at AK! But I'm glad to see that Declan made it on Everest in the end. It's such a great ride and I think it is a perfect rollercoaster for the kids.

Looking forward to seeing BC through your camera next. popcorn::

I am so glad Declan got to ride it too! Both of the kids loved it!!!

Unfortunately, I am not sure why, but in the 9 days we spent at the Beach Club, I did not get a whole lot of pictures.:confused3 However, I will certainly post what I have!:)

That pirate party was SO creative! I don't think I ever could've come up with something that detailed and it looked like the kids loved it!

I wish I could've done Everest...we only had a couple hours in AK and we had to skip it. Definitely will have to go next trip!

But, I always love the Safari! And I'm pretty sure those Ostrich eggs are fake...at least they were there in March and I don't think they take that long to hatch. :lmao:

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip! I'm interested to hear about Backyard BBQ..I considered doing that last trip but there just wasn't enough time. Isn't that how it always goes?

There is never enough time on any trip to WDW, is there? I was falsely lured into a belief that time would be on our side for this 11 day trip, but the days slipped away so fast.

Your son's birthday party was beautiful. You're very talented--I expected Martha Stewart to pop out from behind a tree!

Looking forward to more of your TR.

Thanks so much!:goodvibes I really enjoyed planning this party!

I LOVE the birthday party!!

We usually only do a half of day in AK because of the heat. And YES I love Flametree BBQ. It is my favorite CS!! :)

Flametree is awesome, isn't it? It is my favourite, followed by Pecos Bills and the very unpopular former Mexican CS. The Disunplugged has called it "swill"...I must be very uncultured, because I actually quite enjoyed it. I was sad it was closed this trip.

Wow, what a great Pirate Party! I can't believe you threw all of that together at the last minute. You are an amazing mom!

Glad Declan was able to ride EE after all.

Thank you!:goodvibes I actually had all the plans for the party in my head, and all the materials sourced and bought, but as per usual, and despite my plans to the contrary, I didn't actually start any of the hard stuff (like making the crafts and food) until the night before.

Sara

Gee Sara...I wish I had talked to you before the Party! I would have liked to steal some of those great ideas from your party!

I actually found the pirate theme to be the easiest theme to work with - there are so many options and ideas for it.

I am glad someone knows what I meant by that height indicator mishap. I felt really foolish about it, especially because I knew he should have hit 44 inches. Likely then I am not the only one to have been tripped up by this!

As for those extra 15 minutes of sleep - like I said - SNOWBALL effect!!!:rotfl:

Wow! You throw such creative, wonderfully-themed birthday parties! Your kids are lucky to have you :)

Aww...thanks! However, if truth be told, it is *me* who is lucky to have those little kids!!!:goodvibes

Another fabulous party Trish, my kids are done with the themed birthday parties, but even when they had them they were no where near as inventive as yours!

I'm so glad that Declan got to ride EE, and that both kids loved it, it's such a fun ride!

Well thanks for confirming what should have been plainly obvious to me, Michelle! I think I was having a "duh!" moment there!

I knew in my heart of heart after seeing those things in the same spot for years that they must be fake. However, in my defence, I just couldn't imagine that Disney would purposely create something "fake" in an environment that they are obviously trying to emphasize as "real".:confused3

I don't get it - the animals are real and spectacular enough. Why the fake eggs???:confused3

You too??!!! Good - I am glad another person got confused by that height indicator.

I am already feeling silly enough for my comment about the eggs!:rotfl:

Great update.

Can't wait to read more about the BC!

Flame Tree...you MUST try it!!! Love everything about it - the food, the atmosphere - the view!

Glad to hear about Flame Tree. It is definitely on my list for next year!:thumbsup2

You won't be disappointed!;)

I'm finally all caught up!

Thanks! I was so happy that we finally started thinking more about it and investigated further so Declan could ride!;)

Thanks Nichole!

Gee...I was afraid no one would understand how I made that silly mistake with the height indicator for EE. Maybe that arrow or line should be pointed toward the actual height someone has to be to ride the ride!:rotfl:

Glad to get the formal confirmation about those eggs...won't make that mistake again!;)

Wow! You really rocked that birthday party out! I am so impressed by the creative activities that you came up with, and the decorations looked amazing, great job:thumbsup2

Thank you so much!:goodvibes

lovely update :thumbsup2

Definitely keep a lookout for that boat on a future visit! It is a nice thing to see, and they play great steel drum music.:)

hmmm...I never heard that about the bells before - Interesting.

So glad BOTH of your kids got to ride EE!!! :thumbsup2

DH and I love Flame Tree BBQ too.......it's on our list of to-dos this summer! :goodvibes

You can't go wrong with the Flame Tree BBQ, can you?!!;)

Declan's party look like it was a blast! Another great update at AK--thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

Thanks Stephanie!:)

The ribs at Flame Tree are my DH and DD's fave too!

I am not a rib eater myself, but DH sure loves them. I stick to the chicken, which is plenty good itself!

YAY for Declan getting to ride EE!!! That was a first for us all this past trip and we LOVED it!! We ate at Flame Tree BBQ as well and really enjoyed the food!!

You can't beat EE or the Flame Tree, can you?:)
