How Hot does it get-August 30-Sept 4

Thinking of a 4 day trip before school starts--Hoew hot will it be?
Last trips have been may, October and November and the weather has been great--I don't like it too HOT!!!??Crowds around this time??

1) It's not so much the heat as the extreme high humidity.
2) OK, so I lied - it is also the high heat.
3) Crowds can get moderate to heavy prior to school start.

PERSONAL OPINION: We don't like this time of year at WDW due to the heat, humidity and crowds. Even moderate waits for rides at this time of year are too long for us.

I flew into MCO once at the end of August, when I stepped out of the airport I was certain I had just run face-first into an invisible brick wall! The heat coupled with the humidity literally took my breath away! It is VERY hot and humid at that time of year. But then I don't even care for the Pennsylvania heat in August, I've got a very low tolerance for weather extremes.

I'm not sure about crowds, sorry.

I've lived in Georgia all my life and am used to the high heat and humidity. I wouldn't even consider going to WDW in August UNLESS that was the only time I could travel. The combo of heat/humidity is totally draining on your body. I don't care what the crowd levels are like, the extreme weather factors are something I just can't take.

its HOTTER than anything, but we still have a good time... you really have to take your time , relax , we usually go back to our hotel and have lunch, swim at the pool , relax a little then go back to the parks. even if it rains, it still is HOT.....the last few years crowds were not that bac EXCEPT!!!!! the summer of FTP. it was MOBBED and HOT, i would NOT GO again during FTP to crowded and hot. last summer we had a TON of rain, but still had fun. i think its gonna be busy no matter when you go now.lol

I can take the Heat and Humidity (after all that's what pools and frozen drinks are for..)! I got a little upset when most of our afternoon pool break were interrupted by serious t-storms!! The rain came down, down, down!

We went last year Aug 16-23rd so if anything it would have been more warm and humid perhaps right? I was worried about the heat and humidity but we all did fine - after going through the whole summer with it being warm you're used to it by that time. If you're coming from a VERY different climate then I think it would be more of a problem. My sons were 1 and 5 at the time and had no problems either. The crowds were moderate I thought - but I generally do not go during crowded times. At least I never felt frustrated by the crowds or wait times. I used Fastpasses and Tour Guide Mike (http://www.tourguidemike.com) to plan best times to hit attractions. We did get a lot of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoons....more than is typical but it was very rainy on the east coast in general last summer.

It will be hot - no way around that.

Great info--I will definitely wait to go in October- I would rather one day less of vacation than brutal heat and humidity!!

We went last year the last week of August and all I can say is Humid, Humid, Humid!!! The heat was in the high 80s I think it only reached 90 once, but the humidity was awful. It rained every day we were there but only once a day around 3-4pm due to the humidity. There were crowds, but it didn't seem like we waited forever I guess we timed it right.

My suggestion: Take ponchos or buy them there (they aren't that expensive) We would go into a show or grab something to eat when it looked like rain, but we used the ponchos to cover the strollers outside so they wouldn't get soaked. Also, plan on going to Animal Kingdom and riding the Safari EARLY in the morning. When it gets too hot all the animals sleep so you can't see them.

Average rainfall in August is 6.8 inches and September 6 inches.

June through Labor Day are considered to be among the most crowded times of the year.

Come on people, use a little common sense. It's Florida, it's summertime, it's HOT to you people that aren't used to it.

Beginning in June and particularly in July and August, you will face huge crowds, high heat, extreme humidity, frequent rainshowers, occasional downpours (anywhere from 5 minutes to all day long and longer), and sometimes severe electrical storms that shut down outdoor rides, shows and carts briefly or long-term. This is the least desirable time to be at WDW.

However, being a local and AP holder (formerly from dry CA and even drier ID), I STILL go to WDW in the summer, braving it all.

If you have an alternate time for your vacation, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, chin up, carry water at all times, don't let yourself get dehydrated, dress cool but <I>always</I> carry a poncho or umbrella (keeping in mind that the latter may be useless in high winds), and accept the fact that inclement weather <I>may</I> change some of your plans. Always have a back-up plan for the day so you won't feel it has been wasted. If you approach all obstacles with a "Disney attitude," you'll still have a great time.

And even some of us in Florida aren't used to it! I've lived here since I was 4 years old, and I would never voluntarily spend any time outdoors (except at the beach) during the months of June, July, or August (and that often goes for May and September too!). During those months, I just go from my air-conditioned house to my air-conditioned car and from there to my air-conditioned job or air-conditioned stores (at least everything is air-conditioned in Florida!).

Yep, I've gotta agree with that! I lived in Orlando for 5 years and that's exactly how I spent my summers, lol. We didn't even go the beach much then, preferring October and March-May. Thank goodness for air-conditioning, lol.
