How High Do You Think Gas Prices Will Go?

We saw on the news the other day that gas was $3.28 per gallon in New York or California. I can't remember which state or area that those prices were that high. How much is gas in your area? How high do you expect gas prices to go for the summer? What kind of car do you drive? How much did it cost for your last fill up? Our gas is 2.78 a gallon and we paid over 60.00 to fill our SUV last Friday. We expect prices to rise during the summer and hopefully go back down to around 2.30 a gallon. My dh thinks gas prices will reach 3.00 per gallon in our area and then stay that way without a decrease in price at all. What do you all think. Thanks. :mickeybar :moped:

The Racetrac on 192 next to Celebration was $2.10 for regular yesaterday, and the Mobil in Celebration's Water Tower Place was $2.11. However, the Chevron station on 535 near Hotel Plaza Blvd was $2.38. Try to figure?

Here at Germany Diesel was today 4,88$, gas 5.66$ and that is a average price troughout the last year :earseek:

We drive a Renault Megane Diesel (65$ to fill up and drive 500miles) and a Renault Twingo (60$ to fill up and drive 350 miles)
but its also 800$ tax each year

DH has to drive 100 miles each day for work so its at least almost 300$ each month only to go to work and back

Gas just dropped from $2.19 to $2.08 in the last 10 days. I live in Ct but buy gas in Massachusetts.

Gas prices here (Kansas City area) are actually going down at a steady pace. We topped out at almost $2.40 a few weeks ago and now it's down to $1.97. It takes about $30 to fill up my car (91 Olds convertable). I hope the prices stay down for the next few weeks as we leave next Friday to drive to WDW :earboy2:

Just read in the paper this morning that they are talking about doing away with the federal taxes on gas and charge you by the miles driven instead of the gas you purchase. And they were saying that trucks and SUVs that are heavier would cost more. With all the fuel saving vehicles out there, they are concerned that there won't be enough money for road repairs/ construction since people won't be buying as much gasoline.

There is supposed to be a test in Oregon first. You'll have to have your odometer read once a month and pay a monthly tax on what you have driven. Plus as you cross state lines, your mileage will be monitored so the state where you use the roads will get the taxes. They were saying GPS systems would be installed in cars to get this information.

:moped: Gas here is about $2.17a gallon, I filled my SUV up the other day $40. Last week gas was about $2.23.

:moped: Sorry about that after I posted I found out I was logged as my DH. The SUV fill up was me, not him.

Thanks for all the replies. I would love to hear where the gas is over 3.00 a gallon. My sister in law told me they are thinking about taxing all SUVs more yearly. Oh well looks like I may be in the market for a hybrid sooner than later. I believe Honda is coming out with a new hybrid SUV later in this year.

The Toyota Highlander in a hybrid version will be coming out in June. It is supposed to get about 35 in the city, 30 on the road. Since it uses electricity for lower speeds and when it stops and goes, it saves on gasoline in the city. Just got that today from a dealer.

Thanks for the information on the Toyota Highlander. Now I will have to have dh go test drive it in June. :moped: Now all I have to do is wait for others to report on the cars. :cool1:

My father was happy. Today he paid $2.11 at the Hess's across from DTD.

DW and I were discussing this today as we filled the tank. The uproar over gas prices is somewhat artificial. On an inflation-adjusted basis, gas is no more expensive today than it was 20 years ago. The problem is we tend to think in terms of absolute dollars and not relative dollars. You weren't paying $2/gallon in 1985 but you were spending the equivalent amount in 1985 dollars. In fact, you may have actually been paying more back then because your wages may have risen faster than the price of gas. Yes, gas seems pricier today and yes, the price of gas has had a fairly rapid rise recently. But are you paying the same for rent, utilities, tuition, health care, food or anything else today than you were paying 20 years ago? Of course not. So why should gas be any different? And not that this makes you feel any better, but the US still has some of the cheapest gas prices in the world.

By the way, I agree with momto2inKC. Gas prices in our area have been dropping lately. We filled up today for $1.99. That's the lowest we've paid in at least a month or more. And no, you will never hear me complain about the cost of gas. I pay whatever the going rate is and happily go on my way.

Gas is $1.91 here in Atlanta .... I have a F-150 and DW has an Escape (Ford) and we use hers to drive to/from work because it gets better mileage....it costs about $30 to fill hers up and over $50 to fill mine up ..... Andy

Gas around me is around $2.00 a gallon. I predict it will go up to around $3.00 and then flucuate.

What's going to be much more demand is those hybrid cars and technology every year improving them.

Who knows, perhaps in 20 years we have cars that float in the air on garbage like Back to the Future????

WOW! I am completely in shock right now. Usually gas prices in Tampa are fairly low compared to other places, but it is even higher than prices near Disney right now?! I was on empty today and went to a station about a mile from my home that I knew was $2.14 (one of the lowest prices I have seen in my area - I live near Busch Gardens) and they were completely out of gas. I went to the next station down the road as I was driving on fumes, and it was $2.16 and I had to WAIT IN LINE for a pump! I did notice later that there were some other stations not in the city limits in the 2.15 - 2.18 range that were not quite as crowded, but many of the stations here are over the 2.20 mark still.

I fill up at one of the cheapest stations in my area.....I paid $2.53 for unleaded. There are places around here that are over $3.....I'm in the San Jose Bay Area.

Believe it or not, there are still a few full service around here!

There was a story on the Los Angeles news about gas at $3.28/gal. The station was higher than all others around it(near downtown). We are NW of LA in Ventura County and our gas is an "inexpensive" $2.65/gal. Gas near DL was $2.25/gal.

I just paid $2.14 for Plus in Baltimore, MD. I think regular was $2.06. We just bought a 2005 Nisson Quest last week and that was my first fill up. What a difference from my Mazda Protege!
But I love my new van!!
