How healthy do you eat at WDW?

What do you think about the healthy changes to WDW food?

  • Very happy! Finally, I can find a decent meal for me and my family!

  • Unhappy! I'm on vacation-bring on the junk food for me and my family!

Options are good. :) Yes, I want my treats when I'm on vacation, but for more than a day or 2, I want some healthy options, too. Even the kids agreed - they didn't eat all of their grapes and baby carrots, but since they thought the kids meal desserts were gross, they were fine with having fruit & veggies with lunch - and their Mickey ice cream later!

I work a lot and often only get one meal pretty late in the day. At Disney I eat more than once a day and with the dining plan and TS they were decet meals. Mom used the snack credits so I didn't get chance to be too bad. I did scarf down a couple of Mickey bars though.

I like to stay pretty balanced on vacation. I try to make healthy choices like choosing grilled meats over fried, veggies or fruit over fries, drinking lots of water with meals instead of sodas/mixed drinks, making sure I get in a moderate amount of exercise (there's more than enough walking at WDW!) and eating reasonable portions instead of feeling like I have to finish everything on my plate, just because I paid for it.

That said, I do like to indulge from time to time- if there's a dessert on a menu I particularly want to try, I'll split it with a family member. I let myself have a cheeseburger and fries if I'm really in the mood, and I don't deprive myself of Disney treats like Dole Whips, Tonga Toast and school bread- I just make sure that over the course of a day, my menu's balanced. Overall, it works for me.:goodvibes

I haven't been in a long time so my answer is based on how I plan to eat.
I am VERY healthy at home. This has been a gradual change over the last months but I eat NO fast food, red meat once a month tops, any breads are whole grain..e.t.c.
I have been trying to loose weight and have sucessfully lost 15 pounds:cool2:
So that being said , my tastes are changing.
To get to the point.. my body likes fruit and veggies and water and salads now. I miss them when I don't have them. So on my vacation I am going to have alot of things I would not normally have, but keep trying for healthy options when they are available.
The whole experience is a treat.. I'll eat what looks appealing .. and not worry about it too much:)

I eat healthy in general & excercise a lot so when I go on Vacation- the word healthy is not in my vocabulary. I even cut out sugar/chocolate 2 weeks before going to Disney so I can overload on all the yummy sweets there lol

healthy??? bahahaha not in disney world!!! the only fruit i have in disney world is frozen and covered in chocolate and nuts:banana: when i went last april i gained 7 pounds!!! lol :rotfl2: losing that wasnt nearly as much fun as gaining at

I'm very happy that they switched to the healthier frying oil, it enables me to atually have things like fries and funnel cake. Partially hydroganated soybean oil makes me ill for a couple of days, now that it's gone, I can be less healthy!

sorta

I'm one of those people who orders what they want, good for you or bad. I have an active lifestyle, but I'm not millitant about exercise or diet...I'm just normal. In warm and sunny weather, like the have in Florida, I crave salads and fruit. We usually eat at table service and I order what I want...it just happens to be salmon and salads normally...but I also order my drinks and have a decadent dessert. At counter service...well, hmmm, I don't eat alot of counter service.

This last trip, I didn't have a burger until the very last day...the rest of the week long trip I ate healthy (not including the booze and desserts) 75% of the time. It was a choice, a tasty choice at that. I'm glad I had that choice. Otherwise my trip might have been miserable because I was bloated from the fat and salt, and hyped up on all the sugar.

There isn't an other option so I didn't vote. I don't mind wheat over white bread or anything like that. I would only have a problem if Disney tried to make everything healthy and got rid of all the fries and ice cream, etc. Then I'd have a problem.

I voted that I am happy that there are healthy options, but other than that I couldn't agree more with the above post.

I would only have a problem if Disney became Health Food Central.

I also agree with a PP about not understanding the fuss. As it stands "all of the healthy changes" that they've made, and "all of the choices that they've taken away" boils down to the buns. That is the only instance that Disney has removed the choice from the consumer.

I personally haven't tasted the buns (as many of those with a big problem with the buns haven't tasted them yet either). If, when I taste the buns, I don't like them I will voice a complaint about the bad tasting buns. White or wheat, I don't care, I just want my food to taste good when I go on vacation.
