I am blessed to be able to say that none of my family or friends lost their lives on 9/11 and I live in California, so I am nowhere near any of the crash sites, but I saw the second plane hit and I saw the towers come down live on television two years ago today. I feel my life changed that day. Two years ago I lived on my own. Now I live with my parents in the same bedroom where I slept for 18 years before. I went back to school and got a teaching credential, something that was not in my plans two years ago. I've made some new friends, and lost some old ones. Am I better off for having made that decision. Who can say?
I feel like that day robbed me of my adulthood. I went running back to mommy and daddy less than two weeks after the attacks. I'm still here two years later. Yes, I am now much better prepared to embark upon my chosen profession than I was, but I can't help wondering: What would I be doing right now if that awful day had never happened? How has 9/11 changed some of your lives?
